DVD Duplicator

New to the forums and thought this is the place to get some answers to these types of questions.

I was at work today and this guy just started a conversation with me about gba games. One thing lead to another and he got to the topic of copying games. Stating how gba should be as easy as ps2 or xbox. Of course I told him it wasn't so easy and you needed to have a mod chip. Strangely enough, he said not so. He stated he was able to do direct copies of his ps2 games and play them off the ps2 UNMODDED! The hell he talking about, is that even possible. I know its not or I assume its not. Well, he said he used a DVD duplicator (stand-alone) and that it burns everything, even the verification of the cds (dvds) and by-passing the copy protection.

So enlighten me here, is there some truth to his ramblings or is he as full of crap as I think he is?

He is telling the truth. You can use the "knife trick" but I HIGHLY recommend you don't do it. It involves jamming a knife into you disc tray and crap. All you will end up doing is busting your ps2. It is alot cheaper to get a mod then it is to buy a new ps2.

But where does the duplicator come to play? Anyway, explain that knife trick, first time I'm hearing about it. And no, I wouldn't do that to my ps2, poor thing has its own problems already, doubt sticking a knife in it will help.

But, in that sense, duplicators copy everything including copy protection and verification code? I thought that wasn't possible in a 1:1 copy.

You can't make a true 1:1 copy of a ps2 game. If you could there wouldn't be a need for mod chips. There are no copy protections for ps2 dvd games anyways. Just search for knife trick if you want to learn more.

dvd duplicator

so any of u lot who have replied actually got a standalone duplicator

Devil Gundam 12-01-2003 17:20

Nice point., so any of you actually try it?

Anyway, doesn't clonecd make 1:1 copies, but yet you need a serial crack or nocd crack. How's that a 1:1 copy then?

Duplicators only have standard DVD-R/RW CD-R/RW drives in them
and with the best software/hardware on a PC/MAC it wont work.

It dont work......................sorry
Need to have the PS bootstrap on the DVD/CD,
as yet only Sony can do that

I use a cd duplicator & a m8 uses a dvd duplicator. If discs burned in this way worked without a modchip - neither of us would be chipping consoles!
