Help: new to me - protection on german game???

There is an interesting protection on my game. The game is called "Patrizier 2" and it is a german game from infogrames.

I'm using cdrwin 3.6

There are files on the cd that I can't see in the windows explorer. In cdrwin3.6 I see an extra file or track. I will describe it more detailed:

In the left window I can see all the folders - and in cdrwin there appears an extra Folder??? that looks like this:

<tracks>

When I open this "folder" in cdrwin then I can see the files they are:

track 01
track 02
track 03
track 04

and they are characterised as audio/ audio-data files with a lenght from 60 min. to 1 sec. Obviously these are dummy files.

Now the interesting and new part for me:
when I try to copy the cd with cd-copy - all that appears in the window of cdrwin are these audio/data-tracks.???? and i certainly dont want these.

When I try to create an image it can't read track 4 and cancels.

As format it says (CDFS) - i'm not so familiar with different formats of cdroms - maybe that information is helpful.

If anybody has valuable or helpful information --THANK YOU.

Hello !
I had the same problem with some cds with strange ordered audio-tracks on them, it was some times ago..but i remember that CDRwin
(ver 3.7 or something) wasnt able to read an image of them..i think i used cd.wizard to copy these cds, but i think cloneCD or blind-read can do it as well.

Good luck

ps: Hätte ich das alles auch in deutsch schreiben können ? ;)

ja, hättest du, aber vielleicht liest jemand anders noch diesen thread. :)

I made a mistake: I'm using WinOnCD and not cdrwin...doh!!

Anyway - I tried to copy it with nero, too, but it won't work. The <track>-folder has been copied and the tracks, too - but it the game still won't accept the CD. In audiograbber only one of the files has been recognized as an audio-file - on the original cd there have been two.

Curiously CloneCD doesn't support my cd-writer (Plextor CD-R PX-W8432T1.05). where would i get these other programs?

well, I'll keep on trying.

Thanks for any other help.
