recording dvd movies to computer via i-link and ieee1394 firewire

i have also posted on mod chips forum dom com but im speading out my feelers for help and advice
ok everyone - have you thought of trying this one? i need feedback to see if this is possible
I have been backing up some DVD movies from my dvd players to my computer usingrca leads my video card (which does not care about macrovision) and soundcard(onboard soundcard and now soundblaster audigy platinum both RCA conections and digital) thie thing that really pissed me of was the audio was out of sync and i had to use software to get it back into sync....this worked most of the time but lately have had a few where the audio sync fluctuated fowards and backwards on the same mpeg file...so i just trashed it. So I got to thinking and I remember that i read that digitsl cameras encosed sound and video together andthat there was faster transfers to the computer and hopefully less problem of video and audio being out of sync. I want to try this out with my PS2 from the 4 wire i-link to my 6 wire ieee 1394 port on my Sound blaster audigy platinum. I have not brought the cable yet but will be getting it soon. I already have a MESSIAH chip instaled in my PS2 v5 pal console. So theres the background. Could I record DVD movies to my computer with the straight Firewire conection. or could i have a special software program loaded on my PS2 browser. or a extra modchip on my mainboard that would bypass any copy protection either hardware or software enabled
