CD-R Media
Hi all,
I would like to know if a bad quality CD-R Media is used to burn the games, does it effect thactual burned game? Because I just used a Sony CD-R to burn Maximo and it worked and loaded perfectly on the PS2! HOWEVER, when I burned Ridge Racer V (with no patch) with a Hico CD-R media, the game burned alright with no problems but it gets stuck to a black screen after loading. Is it the game or the CD-R media, Hico? ***what's the best quality CD-R media to use for burning?Give me the name of the CD-R and the color. Nino |
NameBrand, high quality
Yes, quality does matter. Too many names out there to remember them all. You kinda gotta use your best judgement. Branded media is generally the better option, regardless--but not always true. You really need to examine the disc for a good, dense reflective lair and not too much dye--but not nearly silver either (in most cases) There are some "silvers" out there that work well. There are some definately blue ones out there that work well too. It's kinda trial and error--some drives write better than others on cheaper media, this can make up for some failures with other drives on the same media.
I have had success with PS2 CDROMS on the Jensen 32X media (nearly silver--carried in all Circuit City's), but not much luck with PSX games. For those, I've done well with Maxell 24X cd's in a Gold Box (with jewel cases) or spindal. They have "CDR" printed across the front of the box on a blue band just below the Maxell logo. The blanks are goldish/silver with a gold top--assorted color spindles have a sort of pastel feel to the color scheme in my last spindle ( sort of mauve, williamsburg blue, teal green, tangerine, hot pink colors). The important thing is they are kinda thick--almost no light passes through the disc except for where the silver writing is on the top. For the PSX games, I've been using a 650MB disc because that is what first worked for me, but the PS2's have burned fine on the 700MB discs. The biggest trick is to READ AND BURN AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE. Good Luck! Raist |
Should I get the Sony with a green dye??? How can I tell the color of the dye by looking on a pack of 10 CD-Rs? Where do they write it on the cover? Which color of dye is the best for burning?
**Thanx for the help!!! Nino |
