Cracking the Cube
well it rumour mill time again and this is what i have heard through the grapevine: written exactly as it was in my email - so forgive any spelling mistakes!!!!
"For those of you who have a DD64 and/or the dd64 rip kit which you should be able to buy from lik-sang or ebay, take the usb/modem/usb cord that you normaly plug into the dd64 modem port to your romripper/& pc and plug it into your GC modem port which happens to be the same as the DD64 and to the ripper and from the ripper to the usb port romripper/pc.Turn on your GC and keep it on. Use the ripping softwear that comes with the dd64 rom maker/ripper. ok now instead of clicking on the open edit rom and rip, click on the open tab, new, find files/edit. which the files in my pc is in the new f: drive now if you have your cube hooked up to the tv wile doing this and the screen goes black don't worry this is normal. ok now that the hidden file is now readable click on it and rip.Or dragg and drop in to a temp folder. oh crap wait you have to run the game in the GC first be for you use the ripper. so make sure that you are not in the GC boot screen. This method works for every game that I have ripped. Now the only thing is I have ripped 5 games and they are all about 1.2 gigs. I have tied to cut the FMV/sound and dummy the files like dreamcast games or ps2 DVD games and burn it to a cdr and or a DVDr but the cube won't read any burned media. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong or has an idea please write back asap. P.S. the files that I have ripped are not the sound file that you nomaly see in the D: drive/DVD drive. This is the actual game files. games ripped are: 1.Luigi's mansion 2.Wave race 3.Driven 4.cel-damage 5.SB Melee" |
Have you treid to burn them on mini-dvd-r ????
if not send it to jjcool, he'll test it. Make your Pc an ftp server to do this - no problem with guildftp |
yes akahomeruk,
gabbermp3 is right, i can test these images for u if you upload them to my ftp or i can download them off your ftp, indeed gabbermp3 sent me a image but unfortunatly the image file was just a large dummy data image, very unfortunate:mad: this method sounds very interesting and you describe they see m full images (not the sound file that you nomaly see in the D: drive) (also be interested where u actuly read this, as it might shed some info) anyway i have some mini-dvdr media, which i could test these images, and also have dvdr media as well just email me or grabbermp3 and i can get started on testing these image files out jjcool |
Email me
I'll want to ask if you can mail me when you'll be sure that your hack work ell and where I can find the wire and the soft that are needed to rip and play game becaus on e-bay and lik-sang i didn't find it. I hope you'll answer soon thanx

well just a quick update for u guys,
well ive had no email off akahomeruk, so i persume that these are just dummy files he has, as ive had no reply off him. if they were real, then surley he would of contacted me for testing these images out, so like i said i persume these are just mearly dummy data images. oh well back to the drawing board:o jjcool |
hi jjcool,
sorry about not replying m8 i have been away from my yahoo account (forgotten password LOL) so only just read ur's and gabber's messages. you are rite in the fact that now in teh light of day my files are just dummies too :(, in fact if you have the log open when using clonecd it shows a load of dummy data being written. about my opening post of dd64 i have no idea what this is and not tried it, its a just a rumour i heard and though it mite be worth posting here. i guess it maybe something along the same lines that people used to rip n64 games i dont know. like u say back 2 the drawing board :p |
ok then our primary problem is not burning but reading....
when will the modem be released on the cube ? do you have this dd64 modem, ak(homerku) ? |
it sure sounds like are problem has changed!!
as i wrote above gabbermp3 i have no idea what a dd64 is - its just something i heard. so no i dont have one :) |
DD64 is a Alternate name for Nintendo's 64DD disk drive add-on
very rare now indeed http://assembler.roarvgm.com/64_DD_D...nit/Image4.jpg the broadmand connection will be released sometime in august in japan, also akahomeruk, you say quote: I have ripped are not the sound file that you nomaly see in the D: drive/DVD drive. This is the actual game files? what was the actual image file like? as you say it wasent lke the normal audio data also what forum did you read this artical on? as it looks like you cut and paist it? jjcool |
it is a cut and paste from an email I got from a friend.
I am new to all this so really i am a bit out of my depth and probally getting the words wrong. the only games i have "ripped" are using clonecd v4 but as i have now discovered it is not really working and just a dummy file. sorry if i have mislead anyone here. |
no problem, ak. But you're on the right way with this post...it like it was with dreamcast - it's not possible to read them in with a pc-drive... so lets try a modem - i will try to get something for this 64dd, if not we will have to wait....and then we need a boot-disc but i suppose the freeloader will make that work for us even if datel says no.
so we will have to wait for the free loader, which will be released on the 5th ofaugust....during that time i will try to get such a modem.... keep up the work |
