what does it mean when a burnt PSX game hangs at the Playstion logo, when running it on a modded PS2?

Usually means that you've burned a coaster.

I presume it is a backed up psx game(ie psx or ps1)
But will need a little more info to be of any help,
Like does the game run on a modded psx,wot program you used to back up game,wot program used and wot setting used,ie speed read at and written at etc:-

Well heres the skinny

Game is Resident evil.... but seems every capcom game that I have tried to get hasn't worked for me... cause I tried Resident evil 3 and Street Fighter ex plus and got the same result, so I think this is a capcom thing. Anyways, I have a externally modded PS2, a plextor 12x10x32 burner, I use CDclone. I have burnt games like bushido blade and tenchu with out a problem, but these games have been giving me trouble. htey will only boot to the Playstation logo. Anyways I hope this is enough info.

Not sure what protection settings are used on Capcom games, what settings on CloneCD did you use when burning the game?

Have you tried using ClonxXL alongside CloneCD, what this does is reads what protection settings are on the disc, and applies the correct settings to CloneCD prior to copying. You can grab ClonyXL from the cdmediaworld site.
