packer 17-02-2002 01:29

i would recommedn ClonecD for you, i think it is easier to use.

mpborgy 17-02-2002 01:37

Clone CD are you joking i downloaded that a while ago its plain sh*t it stuffed 3 cd-r's!!!!!

packer 17-02-2002 01:54

you probably don't know how to use it. Most people use it here with great succes. Get clonyXXl. it will tell you what protects a cd and then you know settigns to use in nero if you know your protections

mpborgy 17-02-2002 02:01

ok iam getting clonyXXl i do know how to use Clone CD i clicked on on the thing that shows 2 cds one silver one gold but it said failed burn and our burner is installed!! it said 1x writer found~!

packer 17-02-2002 03:20

YOur burnere is probably not supported by clonecd. go to their website and see if it is supported

Shang Tsung 17-02-2002 04:59

I just checked. His burner is listed there.

Isn't it fun when you can answer all questions with "Aww, CloneCD is great, your burner is probably just not supported. Screw you."?

Seriously, though, CloneCD does have a tendency to malfunction for reasons unknown. I, for example, can't get it to write anything. What's funny, it won't even do coasters - it crashes before it begins to write. It has some problems with my recorder.

It reads fine, though. Is there some other program that can write CloneCD image files? Alternatively, can CloneCD create images in the formats Nero can write (NRG,ISO,CUE)?

To mpborgy:

First, remember that CloneCD is only for cloning CDs. If you want to create your own custom CDs, use Nero.

Also, Nero will read and write the majority of not-so-new games just fine. It's the newest protections that sometimes it cannot read, while CloneCD can. I wonder if hardware can somehow affect Nero's protection-cracking abilities...

To copy CDs with Nero, you use the CD-Copy function, and it will create an exact duplicate of the CD, no matter what type it is. If the CD is protected, you may need a cracked EXE even if the burn is successful.

To create your own CDs, use the New Compilation function. There you can select between data, audio, video or mixed modes.

I did i say screw him? I think not. I wasn't sure whether his burner was compatible, also because of such a strange malfunction. HEY i was only trying to help! and also i never said Clonecd was better that anything else, i just said that most people use it with great succes and that his problem isn't a reason to assume that it is crap.

themis_t 17-02-2002 12:55

heym8 packer is right, and if you can't use clone cd it's your problem...i am using it with great succes and i know many many other people from here do too....the first thing that gets to my mind i a post a read somewhere telling that not legaly owned clone cd programs will not work properly(the same thing wi cdrwin).......

mpborgy 17-02-2002 21:43

packer, I didn't mean bashing you. I know you were trying to help. The "Screw you" was just for emphasis.

The thing is that when "your burner is not compatible" becomes a frequent excuse to problems, it means that something isn't too good with the program.

Most people do use it with success, but mpborgy is not the only one who has this problem. I have it two, and I am sure that there are more of us unlucky guys.

I don't say CloneCD is crap, I say that it is problematic.

Yes, it is my problem. I don't expect you to solve it for me. I'm not angry at you at all guys, don't get me wrong. Perhaps I'm just bitter, cause I happen to be one of the unlucky guys.

Don't give me that bull about legal copies, though. Don't expect me to believe that everyone on this forum uses a legally bought copy of CloneCD, just like no one honestly believes that we are all burning games for backup purposes. Someone cracked CloneCD and it didn't work, so he spread this rumour, and now it's being used as a simple way to wash hands clean, i.e. "You didn't legally buy CloneCD, screw you."

Yes, Eagle gave you a good link.

According to GCW, these are the most suggested proggies for protection cracking:

CloneCD (doesn't work for you, real solution may not exist)
Nero (fails at protected CDs, as you said)
Blindwrite
CDRWin
DiscJuggler

Try the other three.

I'm not sure with the links, but you can find them at www.GameCopyWorld.com

packer 19-02-2002 04:43

well that is cleared!

so lets sit back and relax and help!:D

podunkviller 20-02-2002 16:27

get the cloner. it will scan the cd and set its settings properly.

note, this is not an endorsement for cloner. it is merely something that does not require someone who understands copy protections sitting next to it. not a diss, but if you are using nero to burn an pc game, you are wrong.
