Is messiah modchip the solution for playing dvd backups in a v5 pal ps2?

I would like to know if messiah modchip allows you to play ps2 dvd backups in a pal v5 ps2. Is there any other modchip that also allow you to play them with a v5 pal? please, help

Channel Tech claimed that it worked in v5 and was easiest to install in v5.
