With a American PSX2 is it possible to play ps1 packups with a mod chip?

Not yet. There is no mod chip for the American PS2 yet. Give it a little more time.

before you guys rush off for this new chip, wait a while for things to settle in..the us ps2 hardware is a lot different from the jap...sony has taken big steps to stop pirates, by making the hardware complex....the jap boards were never even fully cracked and i know the us one isn't...these guys know that everyone's mouth is watering for a ps2 chip, and they are waiting to cash in on it...just be patient...plus i don't want to take a chance on messing up a system i slept outside for overnight, that can't be replaced until next year...screw that!!!
