A NEW Problem. This time with WINRAR...

Ok, how ironic is it that after I find an answer for my DiscJuggler problem, I get a new problem with WinRar! Everytime I try to extract the files I downloaded a message box pops up called "Winrar Diagnostic Messages." This box lists all the files I am trying to extract and it says "unexpected end of archive" next to them. Whats up with my Winrar?

Id know something about that, it happened to me b4. It usually happens when you have downloaded a file that was resumed from a slightly different file (internal file names may differ), or ur file may just be corrupted in the end.

Well the thing is. I downloaded three different games, and they all gave me the same message. I also downloaded another version of Winrar. I kept getting the same error message. I don't know what the deal is..

You either don't have all of the pieces of the RAR archive, or one of them is corrupted. It's as simple as that. If it doesn't have all of the segments, intact, you will get an "Unexpected end of archive" type message.

Ok...but now how do I fix this problem?

MajinPenis 01-09-2001 18:33

Well, ....

If its made up of many segments (rar-r##) then you should try to unrar them and see on which one the error happens on, then try to re-dl that file and hope it works.
And if its only file then I suggest downloading the whole thing over again, or maybe getting it from somewhere else if you think they might be serving corrupt files.

There is no possible way to fix the "unexpected end of archive" error since if winrar says it is corrupt there is nothing you can really do about it, that file cant be fixed.

Oh so your saying it's the files that I downloaded NOT the program Winrar itself?

BrAvO_BoY 01-09-2001 20:15

YES !

MrBar 01-09-2001 21:21

OK now I don't understand this...I have downloaded the same game from three different types of servers (kurrupt, sIn, noize) and all of them have been corrupted files. I dont know what to heck to do!

How many RAR files did you download for each game? If you downloaded only a ".rar" file, you'll need to download the .r00, .r01, .r02, etc before your set is complete. If you downloaded a .001, you'll also need .002, .003, .004, .005, etc before the set is complete. You won't be able to unrar unless you have ALL of the files in the collection. A game will be anywhere from 8 to 35 different segment files. If even one of these files is missing or incomplete, you'll get the error. All of the files will be the same exact size except the very last one.

I can't recall the URL, but there's a site where you can verify the RAR file sizes for different ISOs. Perhaps someone else can give you that URL.

I'm pretty sure I have all the files. I always check to see that I have every file before I start downloading. Oh well, thanks for your help guys...I guess.
