Which will take longer?
this post might repeat a few other questions, but i am just looking for a little clarity from the gurus.
There are two paths to backups 1. download bin/cue files and burn with cdrwin (need a boot cd for these, right?) or download cgi files and burn with disc juggler 2. interface the dreamcast to the computer and use the dreamcast as a GD reader then edit files if necessary and burn. I only have a 56k modem and downloading 800MB+ will take quite awhile. once i have backed-up using method 2 a couple times will it be easier/faster than downloading? Thanks for any help |
Varies, that's about all I can say at this point. I've heard a lot of things about DC-to-PC ripping, mostly surrounding the speed aspect, it always varies, and each time I hear a testimonial, the results they speak of get more outlandish every time.
The GSCC (Formerly Game Shark Code Creators Club), www.cmgsccc.com I think, swore up and down they get 80mbps transfer, so that is 10 megs per second, so they could rip an entire DC game to their PCs in under 2-3 minutes. I don't know if it's true or not, I really don't care since I have a cable modem and don't have to perform DC-to-PC rips. The only thing I can suggest is maybe investing in one of those DC-to-PC cards, DCxfer I think is one of them I dunno. One of those cards would certainly speed a transfer up compared to the home-brewed DC-to-PC serial/parallel port cable. ~The Masked M0M0~ |
