Base Script: yener90 / Graphic Arts: REV0LUTION

Compatible with Mass Effect: Trilogy Edition which will be released in 6th November, since they'll release the same game again.

For DVD9 version of this conversion visit this thread:

http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=93585

History:
-V110: Updated DiskSlice Value
Planned updates:
-None

1. Install all games with DLCs and language you want.

2. Create a folder in Program Files and name it as 'Mass Effect Collection'.

3. Move Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 folders to here.

4. Delete any directx, physx, vc redist components of first 2 games. Move directx, vc folders and physx setups from ME3's game folder to DVD8/Redist folder in conversion.

6. Copy content of Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect 2 folder in conversion.

7. Download the attachment below. Open InstallScript.iss with INNO Setup Unicode and change the following line with your game's installed location:

Code:

"E:\Program Files (x86)\Mass Effect Collection\"
4. Save it and compile. (Conversion will take 2 hours approx.)

8. Move;

-Autorun.exe, Setup.cab, Setup.exe, Setup.ico, Setup.ini to DVD1
-All Setup-1*.bin files to DVD1
-All Setup-2*.bin files to DVD2
-All Setup-3*.bin files to DVD3
-All Setup-4*.bin files to DVD4
-All Setup-5*.bin files to DVD5
-All Setup-6*.bin files to DVD6
-All Setup-7*.bin files to DVD7
-All Setup-8*.bin files to DVD8

OPTIONAL: Video Extension
-Download VIDEO.rar below, extract the avi file. Open Setup.cab/Background and drag the avi file to there.*

9. Burn to DVDs with any label and enjoy OST during the installation.

Then it'll be 6 DVDs for DVD5 version and 4 DVD9s for DVD9 version.

That's an assumption though, since i intentionally installed every damn DLC to see the max. final size.

Cheers

"Two thumbs up" REVO!
What about bluray SL (25gb) or even DL (50gb), since i got a (Lite on) bluray burner, REVO?
Thanks in advance!

WaltonSimons 26-10-2012 04:12

My sizes for the installed games are as follows:

- 10800 MB for ME1
- 17000 MB for ME2
- 14000 MB for ME3 (without the Omega DLC that isn't released yet).

Note that I removed any and all voice files I did not need! While ME1 is extra careful to install only the language you choose, ME2 is far less accurate, ESPECIALLY with DLCs, so one needs to do MAJOR cleanup in order to trim down the size. ME3 complicates the process even more since the DLCs are packed into SFAR files which have a separate editor. Once it's gotten ahold of, you need to remove ALL *.afc and *.pcc files that have language prefix other than desired. Be careful to not remove afcs/pccs that aren't language-relevant! :P

I also have Multiplayer DLC's with ME3, in ME2 the size i put is accurate, i also have every DLC, including bonuses etc.

Apart from this, the sizes are approx. values since we cant enter bytes in setup, more importantly, ME3 will have DLCs so total size will change for collection.

Finally, i never install 45GB of game to 50 GB freespace HDD. Size is exist to give you idea about installation, they're not precise, they'll never precise.

Cheers

I did not mean to imply that you did something wrong, I merely reported how things look like on my end. Cheers. :)

Not at all, thanks for feedback mate

WaltonSimons 26-10-2012 16:12

In fact, I am pretty sure I can trim the size down even more. I already removed three obsolete biks unused by the game at all -- AdvCombat ones that are from the XBOX360 version (they show the power wheel) and I noticed that some DLCs duplicate biks that are already in the base game. On the next playthrough, I'll move the culprits elsewhere and see if it causes any bugs. If not -- another 150 MB down the drain.

have a list of files that you DONT want to touch as well as link for that editor?

WaltonSimons 28-10-2012 23:57

First of all, AFC's and PCC's. It is a nonsense to make a full list, but remember this key:

LANGUAGE-relevant AFC's and PCC's have _INT in filename for English version. If you want English-only, delete any and all that have identical names to the English ones but different language suffix (like _DEU for example). Do NOT remove any files that have no language suffix!

As for a tool to edit SFAR files, use this:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/me3e...d?source=files

One word of warning though: DO NOT EDIT THE MULTIPLAYER DLCS! (DLC_CON_MP#) I do not know how far does the EA protection go, but they stated that modifying files relevant for multiplayer might ban you from MP. SFAR files MAY be investigated by checksum so don't remove any language files from these four. You'd save 100-150 MB MAX, so it's not worth it.

Single-player DLCs are quite another matter. I decreased Leviathan's size for about 500 MB.... :D

EDIT:

@REV0:

AdvCombat are the biks with tutorials on how the Mass Effect 2 combat system is to be used for maximum efficiency. There are six files in total for the PC version:

- AdvCombat1.bik
- AdvCombat2.bik
- AdvCombat3.bik
- AdvCombat1_PC.bik
- AdvCombat2_PC.bik
- AdvCombat3_PC.bik

As they demonstrate something the XBOXers call the Power Wheel, it is obvious that only one version is used. The ones without the _PC suffix demonstrate the X360 ui and therefore are unused ingame.

GTX590 02-11-2012 09:02

Hi everybody!!!:)
Have installed the whole 3 games with their DLC's, and here is the final size of each one:

13300 MB for ME1 (without any modification)
20300 MB for ME2 (without any modification)
16400 MB for ME3 (without any modification) "Omega DLC not yet released."

Size of the 3 games together -> 50,1 Go

WaltonSimons 02-11-2012 09:16

ME2 - 20 GB? How *many* languages are there?! :D

Only French!
It's due to the number of dlc's.:D

WaltonSimons 02-11-2012 12:31

In that case you didn't remove languages from DLCs (they install in ALL languages always).

Why not?
It will look nice!

WaltonSimons 02-11-2012 12:50

I'd suggest you to keep a version without the video nonetheless, as video will be with just one language version. And Mass Effect games come with a variety of languages.

REV0 02-11-2012 13:19

Done, i uploaded it separately check the first post.

Cheers.

PS: Expect another conversion with 'Trilogy' logos, instead of Collection, i'll do it once i obtain the box

Hi REVO!;)
Final result of conversion of "Mass Effect Collection":
Compression=lzma2/ultra64:D
Size=31,9 Go

REV0 11-11-2012 07:03

Ultra ? Wow, how many hours did you leave computer open LOL

pakrat2k2 11-11-2012 07:58

why go ultra, you still end up with either dvd5/dvd9 and it just makes install longer.

GTX590 11-11-2012 12:22

Hi guys!
It's the second time I launch the compression. The first time compression ended up with 36,9 Go under lzma level.
Now, I just wanted to know the final size using lzma2/ultra64 compression level.:D
I didn't realize that it would have effects on installation time. Thanks to you "REVO" & "pakrat2k2"!:)
