Well if you read a little before trying this its EASY to figure it out.
IF you do step 3 3) Extract & overwrite 'Dummy.7z' contents to 'temp\Need for Speed(TM) SHIFT\Pakfiles\' Then you MUST do the last part of step 4 4) Start FREEARC browse game's folder after installation, or directly from DVD9 select: Otherwise use your games install folder, run freearc, then replace dummy files. Come on its NOT Rocket Science... just read a little first. |
RE-read his steps.. there NOT backwards... IF you replace the files with dummy ones then you MUST use freearc on original DVD9. IF you dont replace them then use installed games folder. people learn to read properly.

the program to edit SOME dat files AND most msi files is called "ORCA". Read thru some of the other conversions here, they contain pictures that show the changes made to the MSI file.
NOTE: NOT all dat files can be edited with orca, only those that were msi files but renamed as a dat file by game producer. do a google search for it. Once installed then right click on your MSI file & edit with orca will be in the list. |

Probably too much work to try to remove all the extra languages anyways. Peter does great work :) |

BEFORE you start #3, DO step#4. people cant read 4) Start FREEARC browse game's folder after installation, or directly from DVD9 select: Choose either the already installed game folder OR direct from DVD9, start freearc compress the needed files THEN do step #3 ( replace dummy files ) then to step #5. |
Plain English to prevent errors when using this brilliant method!

Thank you, Meathos13 and the original from peterf :) It's tested and work 100%. :D |
Don't use Crack/s
All I did was simplify the syntax...
"But Thanks! Anyway" Thank You Peterf1999 for being intelligent enough to make the files and write the instruction in the first place!!! Don't use Crack/s |
@peterf1999:
it worked for me on Win XP/Vista/7...thank u very much could u share with us what changes u made in the .dat file as I'm new to all the msi editing and I'm liking it very much...if u cud share what u did here it would be very nice...thank you also, what is the .dlt file and what is xdelta3.0??? |
Quote:
|
ohh, so xdelta is a patching tool, right??
can anyone tell me exactly what this command does, i tried to find it online but couldn't! xdelta3.0 -d -v -fs autorun.dat NFSS.dlt "autorun patched.dat" |

(Yes, the command line syntax of this software is not trivial, it's somehow quite confusing...) |
Quote:
So, here, does the command decode "autorun.dat" or "nfss.dlt" ?? the source is "autorun.dat", i guess ?? what is the need to force overwrite the file, can't we just write it? :confused: What is a .dlt file and how do we create it? |
Quote:
xdelta3.0 -d -fs oldfile deltafile newfile (apply the bin patch) -f if it already present overwrite it the source is always the oldfile |

@peterf1999
Thank you very much, I now understood evrything and thanx for telling all the commands (now I can create patches too...yippee) Also, I compared the patched file and the original file, but I didn't find a line that said to extract "NFSS_arc.exe"...all I could find was a line that was added to unpack an "exe". I have attached the differences between both patched and original files. Attachment 1295 |
Thanks meathos :):):) working fine on win 7 x64.
|
Thank you very much, perfect running Windows 7 Home Premium x86,
I followed the instructions to the letter and it worked perfectly. Great contribution. |

I don't see, how writing the steps in not exactly the same order, is changing the conversion itself? As I see it it didn't! Your compressing the same files, with the same compression method, followed by using the same files.
The steps or just marking what to do, for the conversion to work, and, witch thing to do one after the other it's just logical, don't You think, or do You disagree? |

peterf1999, DVD9 to 1xDVD5 worked perfectly! :D Installation and normal running play. Even with patch 1.2 and translation into Portuguese. Thank you!
Thanks! :) Sorry for my bad English. |
Thanks.

I'll start by apologizing for necro'ing this topic and then go on to thank peterf1999 for this guide!
I was wondering if there was a way to get the 1.02 patch integrated with the setup (unfortunately "slipstream" appears to be a term used in racing as well, making the search for this even harder). I installed the game and patched it, compressed the Tracks & Vehicles folders (that covers half of the new stuff in the patch), but I'm at a loss as to how to add the other patched files into (what I'd presume would be) the Group#.cabs. Since I haven't been able to find a topic on the matter, I'm guessing it's too much of a hassle and it's easier to just patch manually after installation. Anyways, thanks again! |
Thanks, works perfectly
