Problems with Company of Heroes: OF v2.301 Crack
Hi Guys,
Having problems with the latest COHOF v2.301 Crack/Patch. I've followed the instructions using the two archives but it just seems to hang saying "Verifying Media". Anyone else getting the same problem? Or got it working? Thanks! |
Are you sure you've replaced all the files? It seems (part of) the copy protection is still there...
|
Yes I'm pretty sure, here is what I did:
Downloaded fdx-c211.rar and COHOF-2301.rar, extracted both archives to the desktop. I copied the RelicCOH.exe from the archive COHOF-2301.rar to C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes I then copied the rs.dll from the archive fdx-c211.rar to C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\validators\rs Both original files were backed up and replaced as decribed above, operating system is Windows Vista. |
Also if I leave that "Validating Media" message up long enough I get a "Could not Validate Media" notice.
I've also noticed that on minimizing there was a Microsoft Windows message saying "rs.dll has stopped working". Problem details are below: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: rspa.dll Application Version: 1.0.0.33333 Application Timestamp: 00000000 Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a7a6 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000430f9 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: c453 Additional Information 2: abcc8f7853b48d9807d6d51eb1fa5df9 Additional Information 3: c453 Additional Information 4: abcc8f7853b48d9807d6d51eb1fa5df9 |
Exception Code: c0000005
memory exception error - try turning off DEP for the game if you have it enabled... this error is typical of packed executables or 'odd' executables that try and execute code in areas not marked as executable... |
What is DEP? How would I go about seeing if it is on or not?
Thanks! |
Try this: replace RSPA\RSPA.DLL with the cracked RS.DLL (change the name to RSPA.DLL) you have in the RS folder.

Does this mean the instructions on the site are incorrect? Or is this just a solution if the standard way doesn't work? As for DEP, I did find out what it was and try turning it off for COH before I tried the above suggestion, but it didn't do anything. |
DEP = data execution prevention :)
|
I just point you that solution because the error message you posted indicate RSPA.DLL (this means, the RS.DLL is calling internally the RSPA.DLL).
Have fun. |

Lets say: yes.
Don't know if it's related to the new patch or not. In the beginning (v2.100) wasn't necessary, but since they change the folder in the last patch I guess they may change somehow the media validation and now 2 DLLs must be replaced instead of 1. I can't install CoH:OF now to test (lack of HDD space) but as soon as I can I'll try with the crack and see what happens. |
Has anyone gotten this to work? I installed COH:OF, ran the updates all the way to 2.301 and replaced the RS.DLL and RelicCOH.exe files. I get this when I try to launch the game:

weird error message - seems the update was not successfully implemented - file not updated.
have you copy rs.dll to the rspa folder & rename it to rspa.dll? |

it's internal. a component of the game.
which version do you have and what patches did you use and from where? |

CoH (or vCoH) is v1.000
CoH: Opposing Fronts is v2.100 1st update: 2.100 -> 2.101 2nd update: 2.101 -> 2.201 3rd update: 2.201 -> 2.202 4th update: 2.202 -> 2.300 5th update: 2.300 -> 2.301 see if you have done all the updates |
How do I do that? I'm pretty sure I have all those, as I let the game do all the updates.
|
if you update through the game why did you use the crack?
login and play! |
I can confirm that simply copying the rs.dll file into validators/rs is not enough with the new 2.301 patch. You must rename rs.dll -> rspa.dll and copy it over to validators/rspa as well. The older rs.dll from the Fairlight crack way back when is still fine, just not the main RelicCOH.exe file which needs a new adjustment with every patch so far.
Someone should fix the instructions for the latest crack on GCW now that we have this figured out. P.S. For those who are confused or having problems with the whole process of updating your CoH or CoH OF game, go to this extremely useful website and read the FAQ first: http://www.dowpatch.com/~cohpatch/index.html |
@ fkid:
Is this correct:
I've also added the http://www.dowpatch.com/~cohpatch/index.html link, good find! |
Almost right EMPiRE.
2nd dot: Apply ALL the official Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Patches (there is no direct patch from v2.100 to v2.301) 5th dot: Copy <GameDir>\VALIDATORSRS\RS\RS.DLL to <GameDir>\VALIDATORSRS\RSPA\RSPA.DLL, delete the existing RSPA.DLL file and rename the RS.DLL file to RSPA.DLL. Edit: this site here show the step how to patch CoH: http://www.coh-zone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=787 |
How do you combine CoH:OF with the original game content when you are using the no-cd files?
|
Do you mean having the 4 factions?
You must own the original CoH. The no-CD has nothing to do with that. The game will require you to enter the original CoH disk and the Key. After validations, you will be able to play the 2 original factions with the 2 new ones. I think this answer your question, if not, please rephrase. |
I have the original and a key. When I installed CoH:OF it uninstalled the original and when I run CoH:OF with the original disc in the drive, it doesn't prompt me for the key. Unless I have to log on to their online thing, in which case I can't do that on the machine I have the game on.
|
Man... I try to understand you, but I still don't get it.
You have both games. You has vCOH installed and then you install OF. OK the game won't require the Key because it found the key on your Registry. If you login, you don't need the original media in the drive and the American Campaign is unlocked. |
Man...I cant get figure this out. I have read this updated post, done everything to the letter. I start game...hit continue....it asks me to login to my relic account. I login in...won't connect me to any online servers. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help guys.
I have CoH and OF installed and patched to latest. |
Seems your problem is a connection issue with quazal (relic's server host provider).
Have you been connected lately - before apply the last patch/install something else? What's the specific message you get? Need more info to provide better help |
Nando....
Thanks for the reply, bud; I really want to start using the other nations. :)
Before I install the crack (rs& the exe), I'm able to login using my relic account I've set up. After the crack...i start the game, it asks for CD, I hit continue and I'm at the main menu screen, but I notice that I'm not online. I hit login, ...get the login screen, type in my login name and password...it says "validating" and then the msg goes away, but I'm still not logged in or online. Repeated attempts get same results...can't get online. So.....? |
of course that happens. you're using the crack.
the crack overrides the routines used by the game to communicate on-line and log you in. if you don't want to use your DVD and play online, use a mini-image you can find in GameCopyWorld. This will solve your connection problems. P.S.: i hope you have backed up the files you overwrite with the crack. else you have to uninstall & install everything again |
Nando..
Great...thx.
I'm a doofus. Should have thought of that. |
Well...I've loaded the MI in Daemon...started Yasu...still not accepting login to servers.
I'm about to give up. Can you tell me what might be wrong? It says "validating media", then...I still see I'm off line. Thanks again for all the help. And yes...everything is backed up...back to playing orig version right now. |
try using a full image.. server side checks could be specific sector checks etc and that data won't be present in a mini/maxi image...
|
It cannot say "validating media"!
When you start the game, the first think it does is trying to connect on-line. If by some reason it cannot connect, then it goes for the media verification. After searching for a while, the only reason you may not be able to connect on-line is the file "hosts" set quazal.net to you local address. Do you change this file (hosts) by some reason? note: no crack do that it must be a user action. |
Okay...I'm definetly closer. I'm now able to log in...and I'm online now under my account.
Only problem is, how do I play OF nations? I start a game...only see CoH nation Wer & Amer. OF is installed...Now what am I doing wrong. I have a MI and a full image of OF in daemon using safe disc Emul. I'm sorry to be a pain in the ass. But I do appriciate the help, once again. |
You previously own CoH and then you buy CoH:OF.
The account you use to log in has access only to the CoH factions. Create another account with your OF key and include the previous CoH key. You will loose your previous account but in the other hand you will get the whole 4 factions: Wehr, Amer, Brit & PE. for extra info about the CoH:OF keys, please visit: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...sing+front+key P.S.: no one here is a pain in the ass. You request help, we give you what we know ;) |
Ah....
So I DO need a legit OF key for this to function. I thought this crack was to bypass that. So...what exactly is this whole thing for then? Just to play OF without CD in drive? Thanks again. |
Quote:
If you want to play on-line you always need a legit key. |
Well sorry 'bout lettin that slip. Guess it's like saying "weed" in a smoke shop; it's just not done.
I just wasn't quite sure what the purpose of the "patching" was for. Anyway, thanks again for your help. |
