It will install only in english because he removed the other languages option in the setup.ini file, to still have the option to install other languages keep the original setup.ini file, i only changed the checksum option in the original file to N.

I'm still installing it but so far no errors and he asked for the second dvd and is copying files for it too, i used Mondragon iscab to split the data2.cab and kept all the languages.

Sorry i didn't notice the problem with other languages ..
..but if you replace the setup.ini with the original DVD "setup.ini"

the game installs with all the languages option &
everything works fine (i've tried it!)

Simple:
to get the list of files (needed for other commands work) you write:
iscab data1.cab -l -i"files.ini"

to extract files from inside the cabs you write:
iscab data1.cab -x -i"files.ini"

to remove files from the cab (carefull - a modified layout.bin may be needed) you write:
iscab data1.cab -r -i"files.ini"

that's all.

i just edited the layout.bin for GRID so it doesnt give the Media to small error. If you want it i just uploaded it here

Installation works perfectly asks for dvd2 and continues to install :)

DVD9 to DVD5 - English only

Copy the files in the DVD to a folder (name it GRID for exemple - name doesn't matter) on your Disk.
Extract the files from the attached files (171MB) to that folder
Run REMOVE.BAT - it will delete the US videos from GRID as well as the audio files for the languages: French, German, Italian and Spanish
<wait 'til finished>
Run REPLACE.BAT - it will add the videos in the Video folder to the installation.
<wait 'til finished>
Remove the files ISCAB.EXE, MEDIABUILD40.DLL and ISTOOL.DLL
:edit: delte the video folder also
Create a new folder to store the crack/mini-image (find it in GCW) and it's done!

Burn the folder content into a UDF DVD (data2.cab is 4GB)
Install and Play!

remove these also safe to install and play, for who want to skip intro

remember to rename the "videos" folder to "video" prior to run REPLACE.BAT

start the game go to options then select last item (bonus codes) and enter those codes

the cab size is reduced because lacks the french, german, italian and spanish audio files.
the videos (intro, carrier intro and credits) are compressed (reduced video size from 1280 to 1024 and with medium quality).

It's easy.
Download the file 2x+1 and I post (find in previous posts).
Open the file "remove.txt" and delete any line you found with "audio\speech\ge" (that's the german audio).
run remove.bat and then replace.bat (don't forget to rename the "videos" folder to "video") and see if it fits in a DVD5
If don't fit, you must delete the intro.bik or the credits.bik or both.
to accomplish that follow the steps:
1.- edit file "remove.txt"
2.- delete all the content from that file and write this to the file:
save and run remove.bat
see if it fits now a DVD5.

to see the intro, install the game using your original dvd after all this is a conversion created to avoid using your original one everytime you ant to install and play the game.

Have now my Race Driver on one DVD5 (German only) with Mini-Image instead of the cracked EXE, cause it won't let you go online with it.

But after deleting all entries with "audio\speech\ge" you have to add all "audio\speech\eng" from the list.txt to the remove.txt too, otherwise it won't fit on one DVD5. Also i had to make a one frame video (credits.bik).

@snu66l3s: great yoiu make it fit into a DVD5. Just one thing: delete the credits.bik cause it will crash the game as soon as is displayed. I try with the intro (1 frame only) and the game crash; if the fali doesn't exists it will continue.

No, already tried it in game, have to say that's it's not 1 frame. it's, a little bit more.

OK. the game must check if at least can play 1 sec. video (44 frames can make that 1 sec.).

now... let play with RAD - just for fun :)
if you set to compress video as grayscale & the scaling type to low quality and compress the audio to 99% and 8 bit mono you'll get a 10.4k file.
if you resize the file to 102x57 (10x less than actual size) you get a 8.98k file.
its almost 6x shorter than your file. can reduce it to 1 pixel size and the game be able to play it? - am going to try latter. lol.

REMOVE.BAT don't do it his work, cmd here are not anymore in the list right mouse button sinds service pack 3

Guys, would anyone please tell me how do i control iscab to split 2 cab files equally?
example 1 6GB .cab file to 2 (3GB) files? instead of 4GB

the patch is 188MB + 12MB for the crack = 200MB
its too much to fit in the DVD5 conversion even if you remove the videos (intro & credits - the others are used inside the game) and the DirectX it won't fit.
I've tried to include the patch inside the installation - after you install you get v1.1 instead of v1.0 - but there are new files included in the patch (which oversized the installation) and the setup gives me error when installing and I give up.
Too much work for a patch (and this patch has new bugs they may fix in another patch).

To answer your question: no, there's no chance to include such big file into the DVD5 conversion.

the 1dvd5 conversion works perfectly, no error at all. Too bad the update take almost 190 mb... so it can't fit into single dvd5. But hey, thank you very much!

"WARNING" With this method were compress video and removed all languages except Italian:

1.Copy the entire contents of the DVD to a Temp Folder
2.Download the following file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ELMS6HVK and extract the contents to a Temp Folder (Replace the files when I asked)
3.Turn on the file and wait for remove.bat ends
4.Turn on the file and wait for replace.bat ends
5.Delete the Video Folder and the following files:
ISCAB.exe
MediaBuild40.dll
ISTools.dll
remove.bat
remove.txt
replace.bat
replace.txt
6.Create an ISO image or burn with the label: "GRID"

Hi, by this time hasnt anyone found a way of converting this dvd9 into 2 dvd 5, without compressing or deleting things?

My conversion for this game is multi5. But has compression to fit on 1xDVD5. The installation time is less 8 min.

I dont remember how I did it but my conversion to 2 dvds works. I think 1 file was too big, let me see.. I had a .bat that divided this file, and now it fitted 1 half in disc1 and the other one in disc2. Also there was a modified autorun.dat , and that was all.
All the contents of the game fitted in 2 discs.
It was a conversion by "Zentik", I have it in here, but only worked for my version. I dont know which version it is, but the game is installed in spanish. Possibly multilanguage, full.
No compression or custom installers, nothing.
