How bout a crack for gothic III's community patches.

only crack for gothic 3 is from razor... no others seem to exist....

The latest community patch is v1.5.
It doesn't need a crack because the installation method is something like that:
1.Install the game
2.Install the official patch 1.12
3.Apply Razor1911 crack
4.Install the latest community patch(v1.5 a.t.m.)

The community patch needs only Razor's crack. It doesn't change the exe file or alter the protection. They are just redoing the scripts for the quests.

He has two thread on the official forums, explaining the fact that the community patch doesn't affect the exe file or the protection in any way.
I know, there is a lot of reading involved, but also a lot of answers are there.
Official forums are there to support people who bought the game and people who are using mods or community patches(of course the mention of the word crack it's pretty much forbidden, but you can read between the lines)
He really should lurk on the official forums, before asking for a question with an obvious answer.

i am tryone biggums. I smoke rocks. and i am telling you, wolfsrain, that the razor crack dont work with community patches. OK. got that. ive tried it. its a no go. and whats more, then why did PAKHAN find a sudden need to release a crack for the community patch today Nov. 27, 2007 (it seems like he/she coincidentally complied with my request for some crack. i smoke rocks)? Well, the v1.5 community patch does contain a main game executable and quite a few DLL's, too. And, as it says, it requires the official v1.12 patch so I would say the executable and the DLL's are not from the v1.12 patch, rather contain later modifications, therefore, a new crack is needed for them.

doesnt seem to work though, i tried it out and i got:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000005). Click OK to terminate the appllication."

I get it twice in a row. Oh well, maybe its just on my comp. Perhaps there are 2 messed up ddl's...

0xc0000005 usually when the exe is run, implies bad import / bad crack (only if ep is not hit already that is)
turn off dep if you have it on for the executable and try again....

what exactly is ep and dep?

EP (Entry Point) is usually the address of a routine in a program that starts it running.

DEP (Data Execution Prevention) is a feature of Windows that protects certain memory locations from attacks by a virus!

The best I could find is: in Control Panel (classic view), enter System, go to the Advanced tab, press Settings in the Performance tab and go to the Data Execution Prevention tab.

In my Windows XP, the setting is "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" which, most probably, means that for non-system software, like game executables, DEP is disabled. I think this is the setting you should use. Alternatively, if you leave it at "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" then add this particular executable to the exception list below.

Okay, mea culpa and I apologize. I have the game(loved the first two), but didn't checked the v1.5 to see if it modifies the exe and the protection files. I reinstalled it a few moments ago and to my surprise(until v1.41, the community patch worked with the crack v1.12 and didn't tampered with the exe or the protection files), i was asked the DVD. Original DVD worked fine with patch. Than I've applied Pakhan's crack, which works just fine. So BarryB and Tippex are right about something being wrong with the Windows.

No errors for me. But, hell, for me the russian crack for Witcher v1.1a worked on the UK version of the game...So either my system is doing things that i don't know, behind my back, either i'm the luckiest bastard around.

AFAIK some of the community patchers have been given access to some parts of the source-code and the ability to compile new .exe/.dll/whatever files for use in patches.

As Piranha Bytes now belongs to EA, the support falls on the communty shoulders...
Why we were paying 50 euro for the game? The game got out in a poor shape, with a lot of broken quests and a poor optimization...Now the community is supposed to clean their mess. That's a sad thing...

nope, DEP aint the problem. i tried reinstall and everything. i think ill try the reinstall again...

use virtualcd9 and make "quick" copy of orginal disk in vcd9
replace fixed file for maxi image [available on gc]
and mount "in" first physical drive

played , but time needed [i think i never end that game :/]
but works on 100%

for older works becuase that older version dont change exe and dll

Well, I don't know why, but for me the Razor Fix for 1.12 works fine on my German Version
with ComunityPatch 1.5 (no errors or crashes etc at all)

PAKHAN's v1.1.2 crack works but his 1.5 crack doesnt. i reinstalled a second time and tried out the different cracks (i smoke rocks). v1.5 didn't work, got the same error as before. however, v1.1.2 crack worked though alt-tabbing to the desktop displayed version number v1.1.2 in the taskbar instead of v1.5. Loading screens for the game though had v1.5 on them... i think it skipped the intro movie too... dont know what to say...

Remember, if you use the v1.12 crack instead of the v1.5 crack then you downgrade the game engine (engine.dll). Then there's no point of using the v1.5 patch anymore.

ill take it then that no one knows how to fix my problem with the v1.5 crack. I must ask then, would i get any of the benefits of the v1.5 patch running a v1.12 crack, or maybe even some instability instead? Should i just use the v1.4 patch?

Having a new exe file, that means you won't get anything from v1.5 if you don't have a crack for that version.
Don't skip movies(it will crash at desktop). Otherwise, I've restarted the game with Pakhan's crack and playing i again(going to join the hashishins or the orcs this time).
I have the DEP turned off. If that it's of any relevance.
The 1.5 has a great number of fixes and a bit of optimization. So I'd say it worth the trouble.

let me ask you people something, do you use all the files that PAKHAN provides in his v1.5 crack or just the game,engine, and gothic3 files? The wierd thing is that it pops up twice in a row. I think it might be because there are two messed up files or two incompatabilities. It just a guess.

I tried reinstalling the net framework v1.1 and v2.0, heard it would help with the error, but... its a no go. This sucks. guess ill just have to use v1.4 community patch. I saw the change log for v1.5 and its bigger than all the previous community patches combined.

I noticed i have two microsoft visual C++ 2005 redistributables installed. (gothic installs one during installation). Perhaps i should remove one.

None of these programs are coded in .NET that won't help. Also, if you have two Visual C++ redistributable installed then they're two different (sub?) versions; you can't install the same package twice AND see it displayed in the list of installed programs twice. Pakhan's crack doesn't seem to work for me either. I got everything newest and I installed everything in this order:

- Gothic 3 polish
- patch 1.12
- community patch v1.5
- Pakhan's crack

This way, after I start the game and splash screen disappears, I got black screen for a while and then... Back to desktop. No gothic3.exe process running. I've tried removing all lines from intro.ini (however this file names)

Same here.
Tried varios combination of crackfiles. Found out that the exe of the 1.12 crack seems to work better. That means it works after a few runs. Seems to be a random effect :confused:

Strange, first I got the error too, but when I tried to launch it again, it started. :O

The only problem is when skipping the movies at the beginning. It crashes to desktop. So you need to let those pesky movies to roll.

Strange, I have no probs skipping them with ESC.

Try to reduce the movies to a few (0, 1) of their first frames with some software. (That's what I do in my rips...)

are you guys talking about the v1.12 crack or the v1.5 crack? also do any you people have trouble starting the game? specifically the error i get: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)."

check dep, check compatability mode, check directx / drivers are up to date...
check game is properly installed... all of the above can cause a 0xC0000005 error
(In Page Error).....

dep doesn't matter, comp mode doesn't work, DX up 2 date, no errors, driver up 2 date too, game properly installed. ;D
As I said after a few trys the game starts but the netxt time I try it won't! ???
Skipping vids is no problem (but making the game start so I can see vids is one)
got no idea what the problem is.

what hardware and software do u use?
I have Radeon X800GTO with catalyst 7.10 and win Vista

hmm cant remember, but was it protected with xprot as well? if so, that *could* be the issue (especially for vista users)
