Got a minor problem with World in Conflict myself..

When I try to start the game, I get the black screen, and then the game crashes to my desktop. I've tried both crack and image. Does anyone know how to fix it? My pc is brand new, so it's not a spec/hardware thing. Otherwise I'll just have to buy it :P

How are you playing the game if you don't own it ?

simple, he downloaded it, isnt it obvious?... 'tried both crack and image'.....

also, i tested the crack against the protected exe... got a 10 fps difference...
ie: crack ran 10fps slower than the protected exe...

weird

I thought this one was still in Beta

came out this past tuesday

is it true about the crack that it makes WIC run 10fps slower?

Try it out yourself. I didn't experience any diff in FPS with crack and original. If someone can point me to a benchmark utility that gives average FPS, I'll gladly try it out.

Fraps

Played the first NATO mission in the campaign, first 10 min, had artillery strikes, tanks blowing up, anti air rockets and all that other nice shit.

Average FPS without crack: 43 FPS
Average FPS with crack: 41 FPS

Gaming rig was top of the line 8800 GTX, 2 gigs of RAM, dual core and all that nice shit.

erm the game has a benchmark inside it...
graphics options...

kk will use that in 2 secs. If anyone has any mission which has especially sick graphical effects that they want me to try out, just say so :)

heh yours increased by 1... go figure... only diff was i did mine in 1024x768 medium...
im a performance person, not an eye candy person :)

God knows what could be going wrong. How many processes do you have running? How much free RAM do you have? (this game is a memory hog after all) AV running?

etc etc...

1.5 gig free more or less, av yep, avg (yeh, i know, but its free and only one i got for 64bit), dx 10 card, 64 bit vista ultimate, about 40 processes running.. normal really

Dont mix English and German. The game does fit on one DVD5 (normal blank dvd).

rohling = burnable disc ;)

english retail is one dvd, the german version comes with 2 dvds (multi: ita/ger/fr/spa). try to remove the folders for the foreign languages...

Is already a new No-DVD/Fixed EXE for the new patch somewhere out there? Because with the image from gamecopyworld I cannt start the game even when I use Y.A.S.U..

Nope, no crack for the update (1.01) yet, please read the rules about asking for cracks within a reasonable time period.... use your original disk until a crack appears (as/when/if one appears)

I try to use version 1.0 crack and it work but maybe it has problems I don't know...

hmm will try this..dont know why i dl the patch if anything my world in conflict is more unstable..and cant be arsed to re-install.

nah dont work if have patched version previous wic.exe fix wont work.

I think that image is borked, I tried it before 1.001 came out, I re-downloaded that stupid thing 15 times thinking it got corrupted, tried different mirrors too, all the same, When mounting the image it doesn't get recognized by windows. Someone should remove it, unless it can be proved to be working.

you need to read up on mini images...

the disk doesnt have to get recognised by windows, in fact some mini images have NO table of contents (TOC) on the disk at all, all they contain is the protection signature to get past the cd/dvd check.... an image not getting recognised by windows is NOT an indication that it does not work...

It's not a "mini image" its a maxi image, and as with the Bioshock maxi-image it should get recognized that its in the Virtual Drive because if it doesn't get recognized it doesn't work, just like with Bioshock

mini/maxi image.. same fucking thing...
if it doesnt get recognised by windows, it usually doesnt matter.. windows just bitches about the toc being 'bad'... the protection rarely checks that...

and as i said, you need to read up on them....

I can confirm that World in Conflict is once again working with lastest patch (v1.002) + maxi-image and Yasu 1.4.7080. Good luck. :)
