Splinter Cell Double Agent
last thread was posed to be regarding double agent not CT. sorry guys
so it be using securerom then? anyone know this as fact? it's $37 at circuit city this week. vs $60 for 360 |
I know Prot.Stop works with it at least. Also, make sure your video card supports shader 3.0, if not it won't run.
|
You what???
You got to be fooking kidding? You mean those dumbasses alienated the vast majority of the gaming market by supporting only SM3.0!!! What a bunch of tossers! You know what's coming next don't you? We'll all have to upgrade to Vista as all the developers will make Vista only games as they think we can all afford to keep changing hardware/software every couple of months to cater to their stupid idea that every gamer has a dual core, dual GPU setup!! You WANKERS Ubisoft!!! If you think I'm shelling out hundreds of £££'s for a new GFX card (when my X850XT is running some of the latest games just fine) just to run ONE game, you can go f**k yourselves!!! If they don't add support for SM2.0 in a future patch then I hope they hang along with Saddam!!!! |
no flaming ;)
iīve just read an article about the upcomming patch, they added Shader Model 2.0 support. so u will be able to play it. |
WHAT is that true? then forget that. i'll wait till sm2 support comes. there's no 1.1 like CT at least?
|
@cdkiller: where did you get these information from?
|
@cdkiller: Flaming aimed 100% at Ubisoft, not another member ;)
Hope it's true about that patch and SM2.0. |
Really, Chaos Theory also had it's fair share of problems when it came out. I bought it anyways, but actually didn't play it at all until patch 1.05 and the reloaded crack came out... :-) All good things come to those who waits.

1. Minimum/Recommended specifications
================================================== ============================== 1.1. PC hardware requirements PC hardware minimum requirements ======================== Supported OS : Windows XP (only) Processor : 3000 MHz Pentium IV or AMD Athlon or better RAM : 1GB RAM Video Card : 128MB DirectX9-compliant video card (see supported list*) Sound Card : DirectX 9.0-compliant sound card DirectX : DirectX 9.0c (included on DVD) DVD : 4x DVD or faster Hard Drive Space : 8.0 GB free PC hardware recommended requirements ======================== Supported OS : Windows XP (only) Processor : 3500 MHz Pentium IV/AMD or better RAM : 1GB RAM Video Card : 256MB DirectX9-compliant video card (see supported list*) Sound Card : DolbyDigital 5.1 and EAX 4.0 compatible DVD : 4x DVD or faster Hard Drive Space : 10.0 GB free ================================================== ============================== does not say in the readme that it's 3.0 only,it just says if you do not have 3.0 it will not support hdr settings. my card is a radeon x800xt 256mb which doesent support 3.0 (it says the reason it doesent is becuase 3.0 is not funlly supported by any game and isent likley to be for a long time,so it use's some aspects of 3.0 but has a basis of 2.0 making it '2.6') ive only just recieved this game and got those recommendations from teh readme on teh disc,i'll install later when i get home from work and i will report back wether it runs or not. -fingers crossed- also what you guys where saying about new games may be 'vista only' i read that when halo 2 finally comes to pc it will be vista only. |
I think only Micro$oft is stupid enough to make its own game (!) Vista-only. Other developers/publishers know that customers cannot be pushed this boldly to change to a new operating system (again)!
|
Not tried this but I am told that if you edit the line below in the Splintercell4.ini file you can use cards that have SM2.0
SimpleShader=False change to SimpleShader=True |
Can anyone confirm this?
|
gonna try it now
|
ok the game crashes during the loading screen for a new game on every setting available...the menus all work fine, the hardware detect fails me on teh graphics card but passes me on everything else...which is sad as my card runs oblivion maxed out and about a year ago was one of the best cards on teh market and well ahead of its time.
im going to try the .ini file editing now..i'll report back after i tried it. |
ok this is what i did..
i edited the splintercell4.ini located in c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System as instructed by penkster and i got the same thing..crashes half way through loading a new game and gives me a error message saying 'trying set non-registered vertex shader' any ideas people? before i take this piece of crap back to the shop? i emailed ubisoft and got a near instant reply here it is>>> ---------------------------------------------- "I understand your frustration, however there comes a time when you have to push the envelope to the next level when it comes to PC games. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a "Next Gen" PC title. Since you have voiced your concerns, I am able to offer you a special discount on your next game purchase. If you make your next Ubisoft game purchase from the Ubisoft online store (http://store.ubi.com), you can take up to $10 off and receive FREE shipping on the order." ------------------------ ive just read elsewhere that it is impossible to force sm 2.0 support as it doesent have any support in the first place in the game. it literally is 3.0 or nothing, and by the looks of things...no patch to fix it. you think they would of learned from the last mess they made with chaos theory...lack of sales cos of starforce, the game was in the bargain bin inside about 4 months of release in most shops @ £9.99 this game is not gonna sell atall. |
I think that's an automated response, since I read of other ppl getting the exact same answer.
I think the hard-core fans will buy it. I know I will. In fact, I will buy both the PC and the Xbox-versions, but that's just me. I'm on the safe side with my X1900XT card. I think that maybe Ubisoft is growing to big. "Push the envelope"? Yea sure, but that's kicking the customers in the nuts. It's nice to see something new, not just a Chaos Theory mission pack sort of speaking, but they should really turn to a wider audience than just the PS 3.0 users. :-( |
Was this ever made clear when the game was being developed?
To run this game I would have to replace Motherboard, CPU, MEM and GFX, not exactly a 'small' upgrade for what is essentially a 'minority' game, and then they have the gall to say we should all be running this type of 'Next Gen' system? They ought to have that envelope pushed up their a$$es! |
Get it for Xbox instead. Problem solved... :-)
|
nah it costs £50 on the 360...£24.99 on pc.
im just gonna get a refund,i'll wait for 9 days..if no patch or fix (apparantly impossible) is made then i will get a refund and buy something WORTH my money. |
An XBOX? Why bring kids toys into a serious topic

btw, there´s some kind of "protection-free" exe available now wich was reported as working. i doubt it´s cracked, seems like a mistake made by ubi... |
yeh apprantly its the 'direct to drive' exe ...anyone finds it please upload...not that i can play the game yet :( ..lol

I really hope this is the leaked beta-version. Too many "cracked" versions showing up now...
|
Fixed EXE with automatic installer: ;)

@khafan
If it is the real deal can you please submit it to GameCopyWorld using the following link: http://ul.gamecopyworld.com Thankyou ;) |
The NoDVD still doesn't solve the SM2.0 (or 2.0b in my case) debacle :(
So reading their e-mail about 'push the envelope' does this mean ALL Ubi games from now on will now be SM3.0? If not, then this is just a gimmick by Ubi to help Nvidia/ATI sell their High End cards in return for a wad of cash! They should have changed the name to SPLINTER CELL: CAVEAT EMPTOR! |

People in another forums says it is a packed exe in a cab file inside the disk! So, an Ubisoft fatal mistake? :D
|
jup its from data1.cab :D
Changing the entry "SimpleShaders" in splintercell4.ini to true should solve the shader 2 problems (I heard). |
I cant believe Ubisoft made 2 fatal mistakes!
1. Leaving the unprotected exe in the cab file! (which is a bonus for gamers) 2. Creating a game which wont play on systems which only support SM 2.0!! Quote:
|
Does the patch solve any of the graphic card problems?
http://patches.ubi.com/splinter_cell_double_agent/ I have PS 3.0 myself, so I can't say. |
is doesnot work :( it MUST be possible somehow
|
No, sorry. I mustn't. If Ubisoft has completely left out the PS 2.0 support, the chances for those ppl to get it running is right about none. This could be the biggest bomb in Ubisoft's history.
|
so there's not even a 1.1 option like CT? WTF ubisoft?!
|
No way that Ubisof will keep only Shader 3.0 supported. I think that sooner or later they will fix this mistake.
|
Have you read this (automated?) answer from Ubisoft?
"I understand your frustration, however there comes a time when you have to push the envelope to the next level when it comes to PC games. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a "Next Gen" PC title. Since you have voiced your concerns, I am able to offer you a special discount on your next game purchase. If you make your next Ubisoft game purchase from the Ubisoft online store (http://store.ubi.com), you can take up to $10 off and receive FREE shipping on the order." No room for PS 2.0 in this answer... :-( EDIT: For those interested, the V1.01 patch does not change the single player EXE, and works fine with the unprotected file. Among other things (at a quick test) the patch adds a AA-option which looks VERY good along with HDR. :-D Also the framrates seem alot better. This is a good patch indeed. :-) |
Seems the unprotected EXE is just a loader, both Brothers In Arms games were similar too and so was FarCry If I recall right, all from Ubisoft!

http://patches.ubi.com/splinter_cell_double_agent/
Patch released 7/11, not sure if they added SM2 support or not though I haven't had time to try it. |
