How about the thing when using nocd makes the prices go haywire.. this even happens on some cd-roms with the original cd. Currently I cannot even play the game with my original cd in the drive, and not with the crack and an image either. Oh and using your maxi/mini Image got me an error saying it is not a real image...

Very strange.I haven't tested about the prices.Will check this later.About the image very strange because it works for me.You can try to make one yourself by making full image from your dvd with alcohol in mds/mdf format and then use the DKTigra's Maxi Image builder as i did.You can find the maxi image builder in cdfreaks forums ( club.cdfreaks.com )

ok let me be more precsice. Just for follow up, gonna try to make my own image too. When loading your maxi/mini image I get this error saying "Autorun: Ascaron.scripting.dll is not a valid windows disk image. check your etc.. This however does not affect if I can start the game or not, which I can. It's just when loading a game all prices of equipment (which were the only prices haywire to begin with) are at 0 and greyed out. And the nav screen is shaking.. thats the only problems I have been getting with it, tried to reextract it to see if it was a bad extract. Gonna try to redownload it as well.. Could be this is related to the game not working as intended on my comp from the get go.

Hmm very strange.About this error this is normal because the files are not actually there but this for prices you are right.Maybe the maxi image is not good idea.Why don't you try with full image made from your original dvd?I will also make this test and will post the result.

For me personally there is no problem with shaking nav screen but i just started the game and have passed only the first training mission.When i go to buy weapons i can buy only rockets.For the other types it gives me unable to sell this item message but i don't know if this is normal or not.I have only 2066 money for now.As for the maxi image for me there is no differance between using maxi image or full image.

For a test, try the following... (First, back up ALL your save games!!! ;)) Mount the image, launch the game, and get into a situation where something is weird (high prices, cannot buy, cannot sell etc.). Save the game, exit the game, unmount the image, insert the original CD/DVD, launch the game, reload the game and see if you can see a difference.

If you can - things get back to normal -, then this really must be the copy protection. If you see no difference then it's either a bug in the game (or an intentional decision from the developers?!) OR, perhaps, the fact that you once used an image is already stored in the saved game ("eternal punishment" ;)).

I am only at the begining of the game and i don't know very well the game itself so i am not sure what should be normal and what not so i hope someone more experianced with this game make this test with original and with full image and with maxi image also if he wants and tell us if the things are working ok with image or not.

Actually Joe this has something to do with copy protection of some kind (the price issue). if you read the link I provided you can see a guy talking about the problem occuring on his one dvd-rom and does not when changing to his cd-r rom. me on the other hand only have one disk drive at the moment one of the first sony dvd burners that could burn both +/- dvds.. yea I know it's a tad old and the price of it then is a whole lot more than what you could get for a tenth today. Anyways the price problem occurs with both full image and dvd, while the other problem (shaky nav screen and zeroed out prices) only occur with the maxi image. The shaky screen has also been reported with the use of an original dvd. Maybe this has something to do with certain cds acting differently to certain systems.. which would be weird, but that could explain the shaky nav screen I get from Netpuns maxi image and him not getting it.

I have another strange problem using the crack.If i try to buy a rocket from the eqipment the game crashes giving me some strange popup with information in german which i can't understand.Looks like help file or something similar.The problem is here with both full and maxi image in combination with the crack and setting win2k compatibility mode doesn't help.I don't want to reinstall the whole game to see if this will happen without the crack but maybe i will need to do that.

@RabbitFly can you test if this crash is happening to you also when using the crack in combination with image?

I would, but I can't buy rockets, the prices going haywire is not only graphical you see we are talking shops only selling equipment from 500k and up to 1m+ which would make me play for hours without the possibility of upgrading.. oh and I almost forgot the reason these items probably are so high is because they are cl 3 not cl 1... which means I would have to find ways to upgrade my ship as well.. except I would need the field drive for that and it costs 700k + which means again hours of playing without upgrading my ship.

edit: I am doing a reinstall now, just to check
oh and you should try to remember to always take backup of the files when cracking a game.. lots of reasons for this, that is one of them. some games check the exe file when updating and will not update with a cracked exe...

Something very strange is happeninh with this crack.

well a reinstall did not fix my problem.. and I did say something wrong most stuff is cl 2, but prices are haywire.. some stuff is cl 1 and prices are haywire... why this is I don't really know, but as implied by the guy having same problem on the official forums it must have something to do with the cd check. tried updating the game prices were still haywire.

So the latest update doesn't solve the problem?I will not reinstall in this way.I wonder it the german vesion which uses protectdisk instead tages is working better?

I am guessing it does. And the update is still beta and really just tries to fix the problem with cd checks ruining the performance. with 1.2 beta cd checks no longer occur during gameplay. Pluss it adds some mod compatibility.

Hate to say, but the mini image is crap >8(, firstly it's a 10 mb rar that once you extract it turns into 4.5 gbs o0. Not really what i'd call a mini-image if it's that size. I just hope a no-dvd crack can come soon, cause i hate playing from a cd/dvd.

If you enable the windows file compression for this file it will become 11 MB again.Maxi image is different from mini image

How do i do that?

Right click on the file then click on advanced button and mark the option compress file to save disk space.Then click ok and wait until it is ready.Then when you right click on the file you will see file size - 4GB
file size on disk - 11 MB
In fact maxi image is a copy of the full image but most of the information is replaced with zeroes which can easily be compressed.

Not very usefull, but it seems to be happening to just about everyone. Seems like it could be fixed with a trainer type program though.

hey guys what if you take the demo and splice in some of the files from the real version? I wonder if that would work. You wouldnt need a crack to play or anything and all of the prices would stay cheap.

I guess i have a problem of my own ...

I have the reloaded version, copied the cracked files in the right directory and ...
All prices for equipment are set to 0 (nice)
All the planets in the nav chart are jumpy, they shake all the time, quite hard for the eyes
Can't get to the next system, i can't activate the hyperspace, while i can if i stay in the same system.

Did it happen to anyone else here ?

I have the exact same problem. Was driving me nuts til i saw the range of problems people are having with the crack atm.

Boys you should really read the rules before posting.If there is more people using the warez reloaded version you should know that it is NOT working as i read in this thread http://nforce.nl/forum/viewtopic.php...+one&start=210
and as you can read also.But if you use reloaded crack with a proper image file made from your original dvd it shoud work without problems.All this problems with shaking and zero prices can occur if you use reoaded version or if you use the crack from it in combination with bad image.

With me it just shoots way off target hehehe when I use the crack and even with a mini-image I made for myself.


So it gave me a chance to train it a bit, done money so far so you always have 9,999,999 credits (that is the highest it will show, but it can go higher strangely enough)

Maybe ill do shields and energy and missiles, if I can be bothered :)

How'd you do that? I downloaded the save#1 from GCW but eventually you still run outa money.

I can make trainers, which means amending the code to bend the rules.

Its hard to play with the crack, but without it I cant seem to train the game easily.

Anyways i just got the game today, the courier droped it on my stairs.
I opened it , installed it , saw the introductory video and....Thats just about it, when the game started in space it just stuck for 2 minutes before continuing and afterwards it was loading like crazy !
This game has the worse protection which reads the cd every now and then and even the 1.2 beta patch cant resolve that.
So in a few words guys we need a no-dvd for the 1.2 beta really fast cause now that i have opened the box i cant even get a refund !
( I also tried the 1.0 nocd and the game crashed when i bought things..Bummer )

Its not hard for those banned to read the big white popup before asking stupid questions. They have only got themselves to blame. Dont you think? :)
