Dawn of War - Winter Assault (A Working Way No CD)
Please keep in mind this is for user who accualy own the the game and the exp. Dawn of War - Winter Assault
After 7 hours of no luck and reading other peoples ideas i came up with one and worked on 5 other computers. First Take your orginal game (Dawn of War - Winter Assault) and turn it into an BWI file. Second make a dir. on your computer ( c:\WA1 ) works really good (extract both cds into that one fold hence you turn a 2 cd exp into a pritty mucha dvd anyways both cd combined just double click auto run in that folder while that installs do this next step. Third use Daemon Tools V3.47 mount the BWI of cd 1 ( WA1 ) leave all Emulation options unchecked. Forth wait for install to finish now go into the dir where u installed the game ( X:/program files/THQ/Dawn of War ) (click on tools, then folder options click on view tab Check ( show hidden files and folders ). Now that pain in the butt file shows up scroll down and look for in the dawn of war folder (and find this file ( Disk1Check ) done't delete just click on the name and and put a space then OLD so looks like this ( Disk1Check OLD ). Last now your done start up the game as you normaly and enjoy. (the dir of the game cd on your computer has to stay or the game its self acts funny) This will work till a accual programer makes a no-cd crack but till thena nd if thsi works for you you can thank Maxtor102 |
Done exactly as you said, bu same error as usual here: "original disc not found or verified"
:o And if i play by the icon on the desktop it even reinstall the Disc1check file, even if the renamed one is still in the dir... |
Mini Image
After reading through the previous thread about getting Winter Assault to work and having no success and then reading this post, I have done the following:
I have downloaded the mini image linked in the previous thread and mounted this with Daemon Tools v3.47. I have Daemon tools installed with a driver name that is different from the default (it asks for the driver names when you install it). I don't know if this makes a difference or not. I also have the Daemon Tools virtual drive set up so that it's the first CD/DVD drive on my system (I drive). My real DVD drive is set up as J drive. Once again I don't know if this makes a difference, but it helps ensure that the Daemon virtual drive is the first one that the game looks at when searching for the game CD/DVD. Lastly I have renamed the file Disk1Check.EXE found in the main game folder to Disk1Check.EXE.bak so that the game cannot run it. Upon running the Winter Assault exe file (W40kWA.exe) it sits there with a reading CD icon for about a minute and then finally loads. Note that on my machine the shortcut to Winter Assault that was placed on the desktop does NOT link directly to the exe. I had to create my own shortcut to do this. Your mileage may vary. This is basically what Maxtor102 just did, only I'm using the mini image, and not the full Alcohol image. Post Edit: As a final note I also have the v1.40 Dawn of War No-CD exe installed. I don't think this has any bearing on getting Winter Assault to run since it has it's own exe, but I thought it was worth mentioning. |
Tried to change the drives letters as yours, and using the same mini image, but still the same error..
this game is really strange  |
Are you running W40kWA.exe from the game folder (or from a shortcut that you've created). Don't use the shortcut that the installer makes.
|
yep... W40kWA.exe from the folder
|
I'm not certain then...
I'm not sure what your problem is then. It works fine for me.
I did, however, install Anti-Blaxx (mentioned in this thread ) last night and messed around with that for a bit (using the hide option, not the delete option) before disabling it. It may have made some permanant change to my system that I'm not aware of that is allowing the game to run in coordination with the above steps, but I don't think that's the case. Post Edit: Btw, make sure you don't have the Winter Assault CD/DVD in your CD/DVD drive. =P |
both methods doesn't work, i did exactly the same but after the disc loading icon it says "Pls insert the Original Disc" :/
|
ok if your usen Alcohol 120% uninstall it.
if your use virtual-cd-hide disable it ie don't run it mount ther BWT file to daemon tools disable any emulation options no cd/dvd in the real dvd/cd drive duno what else to say guys either your jumpen around or missen steps but it has worked on several computers for me. Hell last idea unmount your dvd/cd drive lol |
1. i have no Alcohol 120% installed
2. i have mounted it with DaemonTools 3. all emulation options are disabled (the daemontools icon is red) 4. My real DVD/CD drive is empty 5. ive tested it on 4 pc's and it doesn't work :/ |
Hello all,
Yesterday the game cafe I hang out at got 2 new computers. We installed DOW:WA off of a burned backup cd, and then mounted the mini image and ran it. For some reason, it didn't work. Then, we inserted the original CD, ran the game, exited, and then ejected the original, mounted the mini image once again, and the mini images works. It seems that you have to run the game once with the original CD before the mini image can function. Probably a feature of the protection... Anyways, just telling you guys what I found -rendari. |
use antiblaxx 116 and the modified exe and you have no probs with this game
|
erm
I can't find the cd check thing in my main DoW folder, even did a full system check...
and anti-blaxx has done nothing but **** my system up. |
WA on W64
I am trying to run Winter Assault on Windows x64, but it hangs once loaded. Initially event log said that tandpl.sys was being blocked as it is not supported on Winx64, so I renamed the file so it is inaccessible. I am guessing it is part of the copy protection system, as the game still doesn't work.
I don't particularly care about running without the original CD (as I have it right here in front of me)... I just want to be able to run it at all. I registered with the official website from the game, and despite saying they respond within 24 hours I've heard squat. Is it a copy prevention system causing this? If so why are they so naff by not supporting software that early adopters (e.g. high spenders) are likely to use? So far Microsoft official support have been equally slow, but I expect that. |
If its a .sys its prolly the copy protection, since the game doesnt need to run in ring0 :P. Unless of course, the programmers are crazy ASM coders, but even then it would take YEARS lol.
|
How I got winter assault to work
install blindwrite_full_setup (got from vso website )
Burn Using BlindWrite (disable Autoplay in Options menu) burn in DAO PW at 4-12x click "YES" when asked if you want to physically include BWA information all you do then is install both disks and play :D |
Greetings from Germany!
Mount fixed DOW image with Daemon Tools (no emu) Mount DOW WA CD1 Image with Daemon Tools (no emu, Image created with Blindwrite mount bwt file) Delete disk1check (or rename) This works fine for me with version 1.4 DOW :-) Simon |
Working Solution
Hey guys i pretty much ran into the same problems as everyone else on these threads combined.
Then i found the solution!!! make and image using the automatic setting of blindwrite 5, then install and play, the disc will recognize as an original disc. just rename all 4 original files from the CD1 dir: mir-wh40kwa.(bwi, btw etc..) and mount with Daemon tools! Wooo hoooo am playing it right now Let me know if this works so i can spread the word.!!! |
Anybody know how to get Daemon Tools 3.47 to work? I keep getting an error when trying to install it that says..
"Some driver has invalid name or conflicts with other file or service in system. Please choose other driver names or make sure you have rebooted after removal of software using some names." |
Maybe this...?
Ok after having the same problems as most messing with blindwrite and daemon tools i finally got it to work using the mini-image mounted in Daemon Tools with no emulation.
Try renaming the two files contained within the mini image from: WA1.mdf WA1.mds to: mir-wh40kwa.mdf mir-wh40kwa.mds Mount it in daemon tools and start the game, it worked for me! Good luck. (I also renamed the hidden file Disk1Check.exe to Disk1Check.exe.bak) |
Another way
I don’t know if this works for some which it work for me
1. install Dawn of War 2. install Winter Assault 3. Get Dawn of War 1.40 cracked exe 4. Goto the Dawn of war directory and find WXP.module right click properties to turn off right protect. (it should be C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War) 5. open the file WXP.module, and look for the line DllName = WXPmod (or somthing similar) and change it to look like this: DllName = W40kMod 6. Then load the game as in dawn of war and not winter asault and there will be an option ‘Game Manager’ click that and then choose the Winter Assault option. 7.and the game work like charm .... minus the movie of winter assault :( Hope this alternative route work ;) also thanks to a unknown foriegn website i got this game working |

The renaming of mds/mdf files did not work unfortunately :( I know some other people who have got the cracks working perfectly but for some reason I get the "Disc cannot be located or authenticated" message for EVERY solution I've tried. It sucks >_< |
I got the game working with the mini images. Been playing for two evenings. Now I got home and it wont work anymore. I didn't even reboot.
Now preasus playing-time is lost with every minute. :( BTW: if u got the ShadowCast Release open the BWT-File with a texteditor to see why u cannt mount. |
the same happened to me. Installed yesterday and turned off my computer to get some sleep. Next morning i get the same message everyone is getting. Anyway, i regged since i found a workaround for this and wanted to share it with you guys. Unfortunately you need the have the regular dawn of war bin and cue files. Here goes: In the folder named cd1 (the one under winter assault) rename the files to: mir-wh40kwa.BWI mir-wh40kwa.BWA mir-wh40kwa.BWS and mir-wh40kwa.BWT After you have done this, load the winter assault image in deamontools slot 1, and the regular down of war ones in slot 2 3 and 4 respectively. Then startup the game using the W40kWA.exe thats in ur winter assault folder. Dont forget to rename the hidden disk1check.exe to something like disk1check.exe.bak.
|
Nothing works for me... i'v tried anything on the net... plz someone make a no cd exe.... :(
|
i notice that too
yeah Film11,
i also notice that too .... i cant really play the campaign .... but for those who cant wait to play and know what the new item can try it out  |
Follow these ways:
- Change the file Disk1Check.exe -> Disk1Check.exe.bak - If you have 4 file with the extension: bwa (22 KB), bwi (640 MB), bws (26 MB), bwt (1 KB) then keep the extension but change the name. Ex: XXXXXXX.bwa -> mir-wh40kwa.bwa (change all 4 files with the same name but difference extension) - Mount the file bwt into Daemon Tools 3.47 then choose Run Game from the Autorun menu. That should work! Good luck from DEADEYES. Remember: all 4 files must stay at the same location (wherever). |
found my way in the game
I've done all the settings just as the guide above ... nothing work. But I decided to uninstall and reinstall deamon and change the deamon driver name to something else ... and it work. I change both of them. You can change the driver name when U install the deamon. I'm just glad that finally I can play this game. and plz use W40kWA.exe to run the game. Just another opinion from me. I hope it helps settle your problem.

The Solution but first the Problem!
"A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed."
Any one else getting that error? Well here's the solution! Ok ppl have already mentioned about changeing cd1WarHammer.40000.Dawn.Of.War.Winter.Assault[CD1][PC][PDX.TEAM]www.Patrondivx.net.bwa To: mir-wh40kwa.bwa and so on. So im assuming youve done this to get the above error message! Now the next problem is that when you run the game it searches for Alcohol120%, Daemon Tools, Anti-Blaxx and other copying / dodgy software ;) I got round this by: 1. Mounting mir-wh40kwa.BWT (using Daemon Tools), then exit it! (All emulation options OFF!) 2. using Anti-blaxx to hide the copying programs. Do this by setting it up as usual ;) And running any game (all this does is to hide the files for Daemon tools, Alchol120 etc) 3. Close Anti-Blaxx (as Warhammer Winter Assault will see Anti-Blaxx running and give you the above error!) 4. Now run the file W40kWA.exe from your warhammer folder (should be "c:\program files\thq\dawn of war") Thats it Done!! Anti-Blaxx Download Daemon Tools Download Thx to all the other pplz solutions! |

|
Hey after 2 days trying to get it working i finally done it and this is how.
1 get anti blaxx and the patch for it.find the folder where anti blaxx is install and extract the patch to it and replace it. 2 you ll need dameon tools aswell 3 install them both 4 get the image for dow wa 5 open anti blaxx go to settings where it says dameon tools click on it and find the exe for dameon tools 6 then click first game click protection and i choose securerom 7 7 then go to game option and find the w40kwa.exe and select it 8 click mount image and then choose use daemon tools 9 then put the image in where it says image. Now goto daemon tools and mount the dow wa image there aswell turn off all emulation options. The game should start click play and you should be able to play it. let me know if it works for you or if ya have any questions. |
Frustration!
ok guyz im really frustrated by this game.... but i need to start it!
i have done all the above.....but... when i run the game with deamon tools & blaxxx i get the following msg: "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed." when i run the game without anti-blaxxx, the mouse pointers turns to a little cd loading and i get the following msg: "Original disc could not be found or authenticated." do u have any ideas? |
i did happen to foget one step sorry about that after you have every thing all set exit deamon tools and then disable it from start up with msconfig (at your own risk what else u play with in there) restart your computer and use the winter assault exe in the game dir. srry about that hopefully this will resolve some problems

Im thiiiiiissss close to smahing my pc!!!
Been trying for days to get the game to play witout a cd,
and now i've finally managed to start it up without using one. BUT...there's allways a BUT now aint it,lol... The game starts up and starts to configure itself. After the a little while it asks me for cd2, and when i start up cd2, the annoying little Disk1Check activates itself again. And no matter how much i try i just cant seem to get it to stop activating itself again when i insert cd2. Anyone got any pointers? Could it be that cd2 is a bin file? (i couldnt create it like anything else for some weird reason...) Thx in advance ;) |
CD2 is a BIN file? What does that mean; you used CDRWin to create a copy of your original CD2 or what?
|
Revised version of dev_69's post with links!
How to get dawn of war: winter assault to work without the cd
1 download anti-blaxx (http://www.angelfire.com/sc3/compsite/antiblaxx.zip) [copy and paste this url (angelfire doesnt allow offsite linking)] then install it. find the folder where anti blaxx is install and extract the patched exe (ccd-anti.rar) to it and replace it. 2 download daemon tools (its in the same zip as antiblaxx) 3 install daemon tools. 4 get the image for dow wa (mir-wh40kwa.BWT) 5 open anti blaxx go to settings where it says dameon tools click on it and find the exe for dameon tools 6 then click first game click protection and choose securerom 7 7 then go to game option and find the w40kwa.exe and select it 8 LEAVE the mount image and button ALONE!!! DO NOT DO THIS or it will mess up daemon! 9 open daemon tools and mount the mir-wh40kwa.BWT file 10 run the game from the start menu or the w40kwa.exe enjoy! |
Where did you get the .BWT file?
