Battlefield 2: Custom Map Size and Players Solution

In Battlefield 2, there's a way to customize the number of players in a Singleplayer Game. I also discovered a method to set the map size itself to 16, 32, or 64 players. By the way, there may occur some problems when you change the mapsize, because EA/DICE didn't supply pathfinding for them. In other words, in mapsize 32/64, the AI may be buggy.

Custom Map Size

1) Go to your /mods/bf2/levels/MAPNAME folder inside your BF2 folder.

2) Unzip the server.zip file in that directory into that location, retaining directory structure.

3) Rename the server.zip to something like server.zip.bak.

4) Go to the new /gamemodes/sp1/ directory that you've just created and rename the '16' directory to '32' or '64'.

5) Go back out and then through to /gamemodes/gpm_cq/32 and copy the GamePlayObjects.con file from that dir into that new /gamemodes/sp1/32 directory. If done correctly it should ask to overwrite, click yes.

This was originally posted here: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bf42play...showtopic=2021. Look for Ventura's post.

As for the custom bots, it's really easy.

Custom Amount of Bots

1) Go to mods\bf2\AI in your BF2 folder.

2) Open AIDefault.ai and insert these lines before the line were it says 'run BotNames.ai'.
aiSettings.overrideMenuSettings 1

aiSettings.setMaxNBots 32
3) Done.

Sorry it took so long. And about that ball-licking issue, that was merely because I wanted to know if people were interested. And now, I regret that and I apologize to all who feel that they've been insulted. It was never my intention to act in such a disdainful and scornful manner. I can see now that I was wrong, and for that, I openly apologize to all. No hard feelings, I hope?

you either post them or you don't REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY REPLIES YOU GET!

This behavior (i will only tell if you all lick my balls...) is lame and unwanted.

hehehe, well said. ;)

It's not at all like that, I just wanted to check whether people we're interested. Because if there isn't much need for it, I could post it in the original BF2 Thread here or something.

I was just measuring the amount of curiousness for custom map and bot directions.

I am sure your info will be better placed in a true BF2-Forum.

Talus 25-06-2005 04:12

I wonder if the original poster actually purchased the game...

MaxSchmerzlich04 25-06-2005 05:10

Please tell me how i can change the mapsize .

Lame, bro!

I opened up this thread because I EXPECTED the solution already.

So letīs do some brainstorming... Who will open and read this Thread?

-> Nobody.
Than it is uninteresting if the information is already in the thread or not.

-> People are not interested in Battlefield at all.
Hmm... I guess they clicked on the wrong thread by mistake.
So for them it is uninteresting if the information is already given or not.

-> People WHO ARE INTERESTED in how your solution will work.
Yess! These guys will be disappointed because the information is
STILL MISSING!

They have to answer. You have to check back. And edit your post.
And who many have to lick your balls for getting the info postet here?

So, decide youself, which one of the above given is the best "solution"
at all.

So, for the next time: If you got interesting things to post, post them!
If the thread is unwanted/at the wrong place - so the empty "are you interested in..." thread is also unwanted/at the wrong place.

Thx

I only know how to customize the number of players in a Singleplayer Game.
But if i change the map size the bots do nothing.

What's that got to do with anything? You can change the mapsize regardless of you have an original or pirated copy.

Talus 27-06-2005 04:35

Because there is more reason to want to expand your single player options when you have the pirated version with no valid cd key and no way to play on legit online servers, that's why ;) ALSO, this is a NO CD forum...not a battlefield forum. Seems like an out of place discussion.

I notice you haven't denied it.

Call me cynical...

It is. Therefore it has already been moved, my mistake. There are a few reasons why playing SP 64 battles can be interesting. Firstly, for people who don't have any kind of online connection, or a 56k6 modem. Secondly, for people who just want to have fun playing by themselves and don't want to mess around with high pings.

Moreover, it is not of interest whether I'm playing a legit/pirated copy. I'm not such of an addict concerning online games. I just like to play then and again, and the 'cracked' server are working for me.

Toothless 26-08-2005 11:07

load and crashes.........HAD same problem untill I upgraded to the 1.02 patch.

spidross01 26-08-2005 13:06

the solution my friends is so simple i couldn't believe it, have a look at the ea support site, it tells you to lower your sound acceleration. run dxdiag from the run command then select your sound tab and set hardware acceleration to none/basic and it should work just dandy

It worked for me and everything is running fine

cheesechisel 01-10-2013 11:44

anyone know if this works with 1.5?
