I made a patched sfdrv01.sys for playing Cossacks2 by CD2 mounted on Alcohol.

Here we go ^__^

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Install Cossacks2 and run game, when it will ask to reboot for installing starforce drivers, reboot

2) Unpack zip file, launch sfdrvrem.exe but don't reboot. Then run sfdrvup.exe and an error message will appear, it's normal. Now run sfdrvpatch.exe and locate file sfdrv01.sys under c:\windows\system32\drivers and patch it

3) Reboot now

4) Run again Cossacks 2, it will prompt to reboot again, reboot. (I know it's frustrating but feel me it works)

5) Use StarForce Nightmare 1.12 (you can grab it from Gamecopyworld) and disable your cd/dvd ide from your computer. Disable also NODE function.

6) Mount mdf with correct dpm of the CD2 and insert the correct serial number. (MDS+MDF) made by Alcohol 120% 1.9.5 Build 2802 (latest).

Play !!!!!

EDIT: I have 3 virtual drives : One of Alcohol, one of Daemon, and one of CDRWin 5, can those **** the whole think up ?

You need an image of the original cd2 made with Alcohol with RMPS informations (DPM Extraction at 1x) and mount the same image from
the virtual alcohol's drive.

Which version of Cossacks did you use ?
Did you make your clone with the game of a friend or did you download it ?
If so, what is the size of your CD2 ?

I have the original Game (2 CD). I made image MDF+MDS of both cd extraxting DPM from the GAME CD (CD2) at 1x. Cd-Key is not needed.
I haven't cd-key on my original box.

If you have only the iso without DPM (MDS) you can't run this game and the method described above will not work.

Cab somebody point me in the right direction to find a ready made MDS file, my burners having a little bit of trouble doing the bizz with it.
MDF file is fine, MDS with the DPM Extraction at 1x is a no-go.

Yup, if someone could put those MDS online, it would be cute ;)

To right, any kind thoughtful, generous people that would like to let us have the MDS, would be well appreciated. :D

I can send MDS (DPM) extracted at 1x with Plextor Premium, quality 100% but my game is in Italian Language. I doubt it will work on the english or german ones.

Maybe is my .mdf ****ty, cause I did everything fine (except that I unplugged phisically my IDE drives instead of using Nightmare, and that I have 2 virtual drives: Alcohol+Daemon...

Hi Niko, is this the mds from disk 1, if so it's the mds from disk 2 that we need. :o

My CD2 is labelled with that name. If you wish I can create a DPM of the CD1.

I think every localized version of Cossacks2 has an own DPM. You should try other forums or any other site currying dpm files (such as Copybase).

Otherwise, I don't know how helping you.

I get a "unable to mount image" message when using Nikos MDS, must be a localized thing. Thanks for trying Niko.

Me I believe to have succeeded. Thanks to the MDS of Niko. But it asks me Cd-key. And my Cd-key does not function. Why?

I keep getting "unable to mount image" using deamon tools and pointing it at the MDS file, why, whats going on?

You must create an mdf of your cd and then use the mds posted by me with the same name of the mdf you created. When you use Alcohol, create MDF without any setting. No DPM, No Error Skip, No Subchannel Data.

Try it.

Okay, followed your instructions everythings okay untill I get to the running cossacks 2, then I get a "program not responing" error from the protection program.

You should wait one minute or two max.

I waited until my tea went cold but the protection program had crashed, I tried a few times with same result, looks like a dead end. Thanks for your help.
