trying to back up god of war .. but it seems it is way oversized .. is there anyway to shrink it so it fits on a single 4.7gb dvd-r?

I dont think there's a rip kit for this game yet. The game also crashes if burned to DL media.

tutorial and tools to rip GoW there

Does anyone know if this game will work with HDLoader after being sized down as explained in the tutorial?

It will work on HDLoader but you have to unpack then decrypt the hdloader elf. Its a matter of unpacking, hex editing 4 numbers on the elf, repacking and your good to go.

Still think you have to rip the game as stated above for it to work properly without layer checking problems. Plus itll save you quite a bit on your hdd when ripped without the loss of anything really.

I burned with RiDATA DVD+R DL and it work flawless so far.

I just ripped GOW to dvd5 and uploaded it to my ps2 hdd with the newly patched HDLoader. It works great off hdd now.

People are saying it will load up but it will crash during gameplay.

Tyler, Are there instructions on how to decrypt HD loader? I've never heard of anyone having to do that.

First unpack hdloader elf.

Then open a hex editor and search for offset 699468 and patch the 01 00 to 25 02 then save.


Repack your hdloader elf and use it however you use it.



It should now play God of War and the before unplayable The Rumble Fish.

Hey, go to www.ps2nfo.com and they have a ripkit tutorial that uses that tool. They just cut the bonus videos out to fit on the dvd-5. But if you are not registered you can view the thread that has the tutorial. Registration takes abut 5 days and you can't used a free based e-mail service when you register.

Sorry I'm new to this. I am just running the hd loader program of a cd and don't see the elf file. Is this something off of the memory card exploit?

Unpacked my hdloader.elf but opened with a hex editor I can't find the offset value you specified?? Is there a reason for this?? Are you using a PAL version of the HDloader and could this be the difference??

How do i edit my hdloader .elf file?

To decrypt hdl just unpack and use any of zero-x's (crazyc) patches. The resulting patched hdl is now decrypted. now look for the offset and repack.

Do i do this when i have my PS2 HDD in my puter? I'm new to this patching stuff I just dl and throw on the games or just copy them thru the PS2 never did any of this before.

The patching is for the HDLoader.elf not the game. so it doesnt matter if the ps2 drive is in your computer or not.

will alcohol 120% image maker create an iso that will work?

also where do i find apache 2.0 it jus comes up with this file server program.

Personally I think when DVD-R DL comes out it will solve lot of problems in general..DVD+R DL is not all that Fantastic, I mean yeah PS2 does have a hard time reading DVD+R DL mainly due to being a backup and all so no suprise but when DVD-R DL hits the mkt it should solve the problem..

Problem using ripkit/tutorial from http://backuptools.co.uk/

I got what seems like a perfect rip but it freeze in the same spot way way far into in the game and I've tried the rip twice with the same results.

The freeze happens after you obtain the second necklace key in the room with all the spikes, when you exit the cave, drop down the rope, and head into the next cave the game freezes. From here I can open the cd tray, close the tray and after a few more stutters it unfreezes, however onces I cross the cirular spinning bridges I freeze again exiting the cave and have not been able to get passed this freeze.

The rip is supposed to eliminate the dual layer and fit the game onto a standard DVD-R disk, I'm using Ridata.

Does this happen to everybody or is it just me?

Never played the Rip version but I don't think it's a Perfect Copy B/c I heard that Movies are Ripped out unless they're majorly down sampled?

Just the Bonus movies are ripped.

Can I make a perfect copy with a dual layer disk? If I can, do I need any special software burn it in a special way or is it the same as any other ps2 game?
