HDLoader and Twisted Metal Black
 

Well as I was chatting with friends about the HDLoader some said that Twisted Metal Black didnt boot up on theirs. I also found a website that claimed the same thing.

Now the odd thing is, I installed TMB yesterday and played it fine. I tested it again today and it still works.


Im just wondering if others are having this problem or success?

Well as you already know, yes I'm having that problem with TWB. I can’t even get it to install to the HDD. I get the error that says there inst enough space on the HDD to install it. But I still have like 60GB left.

Unrelated to the TWB problem, I'm also having trouble with My Street. It loads to the HDD fine but when I go to play it freezes at the "Idol Minds" screen. I have enabled all combinations of the compatibility settings and it still freezes. By the way do you guys know how to use the compatibility settings? It’s not covered in the instructions and has been useful with some other games already like spyro enter the dragonfly.

I also have many other games that don’t even load to the HDD and I get the "Not enough space on HDD" error.

But I know how you feel about lists Tyler :)

Hey guys, I installed Twisted Metal Black, and it works for me as well. On another note, Contra: Shattered Soldiers won't install on my PS2 [not cause of the laser, its a new unit that I bought from norcalmods], but for some reason, it comes up with a fatal error message.

This occurred with the real deal disc [actual version].

Havn't seen this listed, thought you guys might want a heads up. :confused:

Anyone else having success/problems with Contra: Shattered Soldiers?

I just installed the Twisted Metal Black and after starting new story mode, when I quit the game, it goes to balck screen.

Ive played the Story mode so I know it works. I like the way there is no momentary pauses when choosing the cars.

There are two different versions of this. Twisted metal black and Twisted metal black online. I wonder if one does work but the other doesn't?

Or alternatively does it make a difference if u are installing the original or a backup?

Or Pal version will install but NTSC version won't (or vice versa)

Will try installing both on mine 2nite.

Im definately talking about the original TMB DVD version no the online version.

It doesnt matter about the original or backup.

It may make a difference with PAL and NTSC, but Im sure my NTSC version works.

Twisted Metal Black Installed perfectly (original and backup)
Twisted Metal Black On Line would not install. Came up with error message saying that HDD was full even though only TMB was installed on it.

Those are both UK versions.

BTW HDloader is awsome. Have a Maxtor ata133 60GB installed. Took about 10 secs to format (quick Format I presume) then was off. Cool util :cool:

How many times did you try to install it. It did that to me once with Gran Turismo Concept, I just went back to the main screen, clicked Install again and it went through...

only tried the once. will try a reinstall this afternoon but am not hopeful as spedmetal mentions the same problem above.

On a related note, since i fitted the hd , when i initially flash up the reset button is disabled until (I assume) the HD has done an initial spin/check (approx 10 seconds). Is this normal behaviour. The only reason i notice is that I have M2 1.33b fitted. U switch console on by tapping eject button, insert ps2 game and then tap reset to close the tray and boot up.

I have the same exact problem with Contra Shattered Soldier. I got the same message with my retail, and backup. Also, Capcom Vs SNK 2, the game plays, but there's no backround music, or announcer?!?!? Plus, Gradius III & IV gives me the same message the Contra Shattered Soldier gave me. Once again, that game I tried with the retail and backup. :(

Which version is your TMB (USA/PAL)? Also, if it is a USA version, is the disc GREATEST HITS edition? It will have a RED background at the bottom of the disc, instead of regular black, where it says Playstation 2.

What version is your PS2?

Same problem here with both gradius and contra.

Its not the greatest hits version. I bought it as soon as it came out.

I'm pretty sure version numbers aren't important - everyone seems to have the same problems...

Yeah I know.. I have that 'screen goes dark after quiting a game' problem.. I was really optimistic when Tyler said he got his to work.. oh well!!

Tyler.. that's great that you took a video of this thing.. anyway, I can get mine to do exactly the same thing, the only problem is that when I quit in the middle of a running game, the screen goes dark.

Do you mean when you save or just when you press quit? Anyways, I was just pointing out that this game can be played. Other places claim it cannot.

yeah... I can play fine, but if I want to quit in the middle of a running game, then the screen goes black. Didn't get a chance to save a game since never finished one. Although I could save the game options fine.

Then there's nothing to complain about. If you were gonna quite who cares if it freezes. :rolleyes:

I was just digging through my games and found my original tmb. I believe it is the same version TD has. I gotta giv'er a buff to get out them old scratches out but it should be fine. I am getting ready to load it up on the hdd. Man i havent played this game in a long time. Hopefully mine too will be all good. If I have any probs, I'll let you know but if TD says it works, I trust him. ;)

Edit: well i got mine to work and have been playing for a while. gotta love those oldies. :p Graphics really arent that great compared to the newer games but its a fun game none the less. btw, mine is not freezing at all. Must be the new version that wont work.

Here is the link for you. Make sure it is the version that is prior to the online capabilty. I'm pretty sure this is it. Let us know when you get it in and post your results on whether you get it to work. ;)

Thanks for the link.. I DID try with a non-online TMB (online TMBs have a different graphics on the disc). I have access to the old TMBs but it just didn't work for me!

Yeah I had this happen with The Suffering, worked 2nd attempt
