Anyone got theirs yet? Have they even started shipping it?

spedmetal 14-06-2004 16:12

Ummm....this is very short but looks promising, especially since its coming from the mouth of foundmy.com , a reseller of the hdd loader.

USING PS2 with online adapter and 120 Segate/Maxtor Hard Drive

1. Followed the instructions on the HD Loader instructions manual to install Hard Drive. It is quite easy and simple the only thing to remember here is that only certain 3rd party drives actually fit the Sony PS2 Hard Drive. We found that the Maxtor/Seagate brands work well with the online adapter. Western Digital would not fit. Don’t force the Drive into the online adapter or you might break something.

2. Load HD loader into the disk drive and format your Hard Drive (like a 10 second job). Easy

3. Push the eject button and put in game you wish to backup in your hard drive. You can only put in “ORIGINAL” games for the HD Loader to backup into your hard drive if you do not have a modchip in your PS2.

4. Just click Install and HD loader will install your game into the Hard Drive. Now, there is also a Remove function for you to remove games in your Hard Drive. Simple enough.

5. Below are the games that we have save into the Segate/Maxtor Hard Drive for testing purposes. We first tested the list of games that HD loader has tested:

Devil May Cry 2__________Installed into HDD and working

Dragonball Z Budokaai 2__Installed into HDD and working

Final Fantasy X__________Installed into HDD and working

Man Hunt_________________Installed into HDD and working

Legacy of Kain, Defiance_Installed into HDD and working

GTA Vice City____________Installed into HDD and working

Max Payne 2______________Installed into HDD and working

Time Splitters 2_________Installed into HDD and working

Tony Hawks Underground___Installed into HDD and working

Xenosaga_________________Installed into HDD and working

Hitman contracts_________Installed into HDD and working

Gacket (Japanese title)__Installed into HDD and working

Final Fantasy XI_________DOES not work requires SONY HDD

6. After installing the games on your Hard Drive. HD loader will put them on your screen and you can pick whichever one your want to load and play. YOU DO NOT NEED A SLID CARD TO OPERATE THE HD LOADER. Do not purchase a slid card for the purpose of using the HD loader (IF USED IMPROPERLY, A SLID CARD WILL DAMAGE YOUR UNIT, BE CAREFUL!!!). To load your games from the hard drive, simply pick the game from your HD loader list and select play. No modchip or slid cards are required to do this.

LOAD SPEED, INSTALL SPEED of HD LOADER

LOADING SPEED OF games is at least 2X as fast. In some cases even 3 to 4X faster than loading from disk. Insalling games’ speed is as follows: 2 gig game (15 minutes); 3 gig game (25 minutes); 4 gig game (35 minutes).

LIMITATIONS OF THE HD LOADER

The HD Loader’s only function in this release is to install your games into your 3rd party hard drive. Unfortunately to load your backup games and to save your backup games into your hard drive you will still require a modchip. Also HD loader will not play import games or online games. It seems that Sony servers checks for sony hard drives. Finally, the HD loader will not make your PS2 region free, you need a modchip for that.

TEST with modded PS2 with Matrix modchip and HD loader

HK SILVERS (GUMDAM DX, WINNING ELEVEN 7) Installed into HDD and working.

BACKUPS (MANHUNT, Soul Reaver) Installed into HDD and working

FINAL FANTASY XI________________WILL NOT WORK, still require SONY HDD

If your guys have any questions, feel free to contact us, we will try our best to answer all questions.

BTW, PAL version HD Loader will be available next week!!! Make sure you get PAL version if you are not in North America or a NTSC region!!!

247ownz 17-06-2004 14:27

I ordered from here: http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/c...26&cat=&page=1 Got it this morning from my trusty USPS mailman. Installation was pretty straight forward. I've tried with 6 games so far (5 DVDROM and 1 CDROM) no issues at all. All in all well worth the wait and well worth the price! ;)

frequency 17-06-2004 14:44

lucky u man!!!!!! knowing that people already have theirs makes me wanna drive to canada and get mine alredy.....lol :p

RK 17-06-2004 15:02

I've seen something called a slide tool referred to in various posts linked with hddloader

thing is, do I need one, what does it do, and if so where in GB can I order the 2 from?

lufcfan 17-06-2004 15:47

You don't want or need any slide card sh*t, lol! :D

You can use this thing without one. That's what you saw because I saw the same thing... :)

RK 17-06-2004 17:13

hehe

I keep meaning to get round to mod chipping my ps2, but cant find anyone in my area that does it!! very annoying

anyone in north wales do it???

eakinsme 17-06-2004 17:27

HDDs

anyone know a place in Canada (ontairo) that sells 80-120 gig hdd that are compatible with hd loader that is cheap? i know www.canadacomputers.com has some cheap but are there any other cheaper places?
thanks

frequency 17-06-2004 17:35

i just bought a 200GB HDD and i wonder if it will be compatilbe due to its larger capacity. And their results are based on a 120GB HDD, i hope this will not be an issue.

lufcfan 17-06-2004 17:37

Maximum supported size by PS2 is 137GB. So a good 1/3 of your drive will not show up or be able to be used by your PS2.

frequency 17-06-2004 17:40

darn..i should of gone for the 120GB HDD instead oh well. good thing the HDD had a cheap sale price :p

247ownz 18-06-2004 14:53

Ok, here's my setup:

PS2 SCPH 50001
Oficial $ony Network Adapter
Maxtor 120GB IDE HDD
HDLoader Version 1.0

Installed 6 DVDROM games and 1 CDROM. Took less than half hour to install all games. Games load at different speeds but all load faster than directly from the game disk. Sweeeetttt!

RK 21-06-2004 16:04

frequency 21-06-2004 17:18

if it only it could let u run ps1 games like resident evil 2, etc on the HDD then it would be kick ass product....but dont get me wrong its still a superb product but if it would let u run ps1 games then it would be an awesome force to be reckon with .....haha :p

lufcfan 21-06-2004 17:20

PS1 games are pretty sh*t now anyway, lol! :)

Lets just say, bigger and better things are now here...

frequency 21-06-2004 20:13

i know ps1 games are ****ty but i think resident evil 2 for the ps1 was anexcellent game in its time and thats why i wouldnt mind having it in the ps2 HDD.

spedmetal 21-06-2004 21:27

Yeah it would be cool, but it doesn’t look like its going to happen, not yet any way, maybe some time down the road as I didn’t think we would see the day that PS2 games would ever be able to play from an HDD!!

frequency 21-06-2004 23:23

yeah...i think we were all the same boat about that issue. and looks like we got slapped acrooss the face......lol
