TAGES protection

have a look at the official tages site:

http://www.tagesprotection.com/hacker.htm

Tages-devs also watched this forum :)

But I don't think that Empire is liking that FileForums is called a 'hackers-site'

TylerDurden 11-10-2003 09:55

Hackers?? Us???

LOL sure whatever they say.

Tyler!

TippeX 11-10-2003 09:57

its just marketing propaganda, if they actually checked the forums they would have realised that motoracer 3 was cracked, as was robocop (both tages titles).. so perhaps empire should mention that when writing them an email telling them off for calling gcw a 'hacker site' ;)

ByteMare 11-10-2003 12:03

Impossible? *pfff* ;) Sure, keep on dreaming...

themis_t 11-10-2003 15:55

there is always a way out of somewhere...you just have to find the one who is going to "create" the path..

IceBreaker 11-10-2003 20:15

From what I've gathered, Tagès is an incredibly easy protection to BURN - any writer that can write in RAW+16 mode can pull it off.

The problem with Tagès is making the right DUMP - and that's another matter. Tagès uses modified Q-subchannels in a method called "twin-sectors" or twinpeaks, making the reader think that there two different sectors are identical. This very technique is used to imitate Securom 4.8xx disks (which do NOT have twin peaks, but do have sector density variations)! So in a way, the advent of Tagès has been of great help in defeating other copy-protection schemes...:D

The only reason why Tagès can't be correctly read is because no CD-copying software developpers have bothered modifying their software to that effect, since there are very few games that have it, if not just one - Motoracer3, european version.

Semper idem, sed aliter

JoyBoy 12-10-2003 03:10

Heh...

cdkiller 12-10-2003 06:27

if they are watching the forum, they should read this thread ;)

like TippEx said, tages protected games were already cracked...

themis_t 12-10-2003 14:48

they watch but they wont post this up to their site...this will ruin their so well created and undefetable protection's reputation...

podunkviller 13-10-2003 23:55

just like westwood posting greets to people within their stuff.

they'd have to troll for a long time in order to find those kinds of quotes. thank goodness for blackcheck :D

podunkviller 14-10-2003 21:13

probably :p - didnt research that part. lazyness.

ByteMare 14-10-2003 22:54

Must be JoWoot!... the only guys that thinks that smacking a game full with "protective ****" (Armadillo, Securom triggers, SVKP etc) will make it hard to crack...well, nice theory, but it also bitches
with original....my copy refused to even install = money back!

If they can't make it working, then don't blame crackers for giving the public a chance to play the games!;)

themis_t 15-10-2003 13:31

would you ever blame someone that has been trying to harm you and finally he makes you feel beter?

krondike 18-10-2003 14:58

Okay right me if I'm wrong.

Hacker = A person that try to get in to a server, network or a computer.
Ii real deal it means, a person that using a computer to get in to another computer

Cracker = Codebreaker that's can modify the code and understand the code.
In read deal it means, a person that providing a file, that's has been modifided or modifide a file in NOT a commercial perpus.

themis_t 20-10-2003 15:04

look...hackers and crackers have the same knowledge it's just the way they use it that changes the name...thus hacker is the person using his knowledge for practise or in order to imrove on some parts...of course this means he is entering to other computer networks but without harming any of the systems and many times they even send an e mail to the site's administrator informing him of the security problem they found and were able to get into the site's top information!well, the cracker does pretty much the same but when he is abe to do something baad he does it!he uses his knowledge for his own benefit and many times he harms a system for jst showing off!most of them are very young and everything they do is just use 3 or 4 programms that an older and more experienced cracker told them how to use in order to do something bad...these guys are the script-kiddies!

IceBreaker 21-10-2003 07:24

Of cakes, crackers & cookies

Crackers are NOT always the "bad guys" !

Aren't U guys forgetting that they also provide patches and even serials & keygens for shareware that some could not otherwise afford?

Now THAT is what I call community service.. :D

Pedo mellon a minos

themis_t 21-10-2003 14:26

i didn't mean that they are the bad guys for us...but for the companies...and i was talking only about the hacker-crackers which are allmost everytime the bad guys even for us!

IceBreaker 21-10-2003 15:47

Yeah, I wuz talking about those who don't pick on private people.

U know, the "honest" hackers... :D :D

TylerDurden 21-10-2003 17:42

I think the differences in hackers are like this. At least in the US.

White Hat Hackers = Hackers who bring awareness to other companies and are really not malicious in intent. Usually they play jokes without real harm to show companies/people to watch out for this type of hack.

Black Hat Hackers = Hackers who are malicious and have the intention to destroy or severly harm other companies or peoples work.

Tyler!

hmm... if that is so, then U forgot the gray hackers : those who harm powerful companies but NOT private people. Of these I most like the light gray hackers - those who actually help private users by providing cracks & serials.

So U see, hackers come in different shades of gray..

And what about the "Red Hat Hackers" - would they be those who specialize in Linux? :D

TylerDurden 21-10-2003 17:59

Honestly those are the only 2 Ive heard of. Never anything about grey.

Too funny with the Linux joke. :p

I know - I made them up...sorry, should have added an extra smiley after mentionning them. Here's 2 to make up: :D :D

Besides, shades of gray would be dull - I'd rather have hackers represented in a 24-bit color palette.

*ramble* *ramble* Now what was the topic again??

Bah, forget it...

themis_t 22-10-2003 12:47

ok just remember not to complex aNYBODY WITH aLL THIS stuff:rolleyes:

IceBreaker 22-10-2003 15:10

themis_t 23-10-2003 14:31

Gemini][ 09-03-2006 14:39

It looks like Tages will be used in the US version of Spellforce 2.
This is going to be interesting.
