WTF? Am I the only one with BF1942 crack problems?
 

I am very confsued!
Nobody replies on my BF1942 threads!
I install BF1942, install Road To Rome expansion, apply the official 1.4 patch.
I have a legal CD-KEY, I can easily play online, but no matter what crack I use - I can't join any servers, it kicks me to desktop!
People say that the latest 70Kb crack works.
OK, I download it. The first thing - there is no extension on that file, so I had to .zip to the end of it. This makes it work. It asks me to extract the files into game directory, I do that, then some DOS process starts, and I get a message that says THIS PROCESS FAILED.
Why is that? What am I doing wrong?
I luckily backed up all the Mod.dll files and the executable!

Could somebody PLEASE help me and tell me how to get the game to work with NO-CD crack ONLINE?

I DO NOT USE ANY MODS!

For those who did not get it - the game works fine with original .exe and Mod.dll files, but CD-checking is PAIN for me.

I tried OTHER cracks from gimpRus, and updates of his crack, but I cannot join any server with that either!
I have WinXP Pro SP1, my system is not overclock, etc - everyting works fine, but BF1942 won't let me join servers with the crack!

I tried ALL cracks from www.gamecopyworld.com and www.********ingworld.com and some allow to get into the game, but when I try to join a server - it says DATA DIFFERS bla-bla. Some cracks say that they FIX this issue, I tried them - no go, its either DATA error or simply a crash to desktop!

Yeah, all files go into the game directory, it says so in the READ ME, I mean, I have to replace the original files with cracked ones!

I tried cracks by gimpRus, and some Killer..dude...don't know, I know I tried every single one available!

no, it crashes when I use the crack SOMETIMES, but 99% of the time it tells me DATA DIFFERS bla-bla error that was SUPPOSE to be fixed with newer cracks, but it ain't!

original .exe files do not give me any crashes.

BTW - congrats to me, BF1942 cracks are the only cracks I EVER had a problem with - most of the time I ask where to get cracks, but have no problems. Darn....

Machina, I can really recommend mounting an image with Alcohol120% or Daemon Tools and running without a crack, this works great for me...

Then you're in luck. Cirkutz made a small utility that rips out the non-copy protection data out of a sd2 image, reducing it in size to ~20Mb. I tested it only on bf1942, and guess what, it worked great on that. So pm me with an email addy, and I'll send the 17kb file to you. Then just make an image with clonecd and process it with the util. You'll need 700Mb temporary space to pull this off, but I can guarantee you that I use a 25Mb file made in this way to play bf1942...

of which CD tho? the Road to Rome? or oiginal BF1942? CD or CD2?

Well, whichever cd you need in the drive to play without a crack. I don't have bf1942 installed at the moment, so try it yourself. Find out which cd allows you to play, make an image of that cd and use the util I'm going to send you to snip it. Cirkutz made it and I don't know what it can do, but I do know that it worked for me on a Clonecd image, so you might want to try that first. But after you make the image first check to see if it works 100% ok before you snip the image down.

AHA! I found what the problem was with the cracks. For them to work properly I had to use the proper shortcut. So I downloaded the on for the exansion, but I was using the original .exe file to launch the game - no no, won't work! THe game will start won't let you join servers. So, now I use the Road To Rome shortcut and WOOHOO - the crack works!

Thanks for posting back the fix, it helps others that use the search button.

Here is how it goes.
If you want to play original BF1942 - use the original .exe file and filter for ORIGINAL BF1942 servers ONLY, do NOT try to join Road To Rome servers or Desert Combat servers.
If you want to play Road To Rome - make sure to add +game XPack1 to the shortcut line, or simply use the shortcut from the game directory. Filter for Road To Rome servers ONLY.
Same goes for any other mod. I hope this helps.

always run with RTR enabled. then you are also able to join 'normal' BF servers without the CTD.

Or use All Seeing Eye to start or join games.

I cannot join normal BF servers if I run RTR enabled.
The problem with the crack is that it won't let you switch from one mod to another, the game crashes. THATS EXACTLY what happens when you run RTR and try to join an original BF server.

i have RTR
i use a no-cd crack
i also have the crash-problem when switching mods or joining a different server the 2nd time

BUT

i always start BF with RTR enabled and i *can* join 'normal' BF servers from RTR without problems!

What crack are you using?
BTW, I know talking of CD-KEYs is not a good idea here, but this is sort of different...
I am not asking for one, I got one, but I did hear that the 70Kb crack allows you to join servers with an invalid CD-KEY. I could never get that crack to work though...
I also wonder how in the world they could bypass that...

and for that serial: i dont know the authencation-mechanism. but I think its server-based (server checks your key and let you play) therefore that 70kb-crack may only crack the server to leave out the key authentication and let all people play.

The 71k crack at GCW working fine for me. Everyone can join my server. But i dont show up at EA serverlist or BFStats.
I mapped port: 14567, 22000, 23000-23009, 27900 and 28900 in the router. It worked before but not any longer. :(

How did you get the 71K crack to work?
When I do as it follows, eventually a DOS window appears and it says THIS PROCESS FAILED, PRESS ANY BUTTON TO CONTINUE.
I did this on a cleanly installed BF1942, RTR, and 1.4 Patch!

Strange. That was no problem for me. I did as you say a clean install and just unzipped it in gamedir. Does you unzipp i wrong dir maybe?

Nope, this crack did not fix the mods crash

Do you know why?
becuase Fairlight did the mod.dll file... and doese only contains the only neacysairy to start the game....
A tip is to look at Road To rome shortcut... then you know the parameters to run the mod ;)

Does the patch make my server to show up at EA serverlist and at BFstats?
