Burn games using the DATA BURN method; with screen shots
XBox "DATA BURN" procedure
This guide is to show you how to backup XBox games using the "data burn" method. This guide also assumes you already have EvolutionX (aka "EvoX") setup and you can connect to you’re XBox using an ftp program of you’re choice. 1) Connect to XBox using EvoX and FTP program of you’re choice. 2) Create a temp folder on my pc and transfer all game data from XBox DVD drive (drive D) to this temp folder. 3) all newer games have a media check to deter people from making backups. this is very easy to overcome. (3.1). if you can load the x2.4977 bios or newer on to you'r mod chip do so as this will auto patch the game. (3.2). find a tool called isocraxtion with this tool you just patch all the .xbe files on you'r game prior to burning. (3.3). you can manually use a hex editor app to patch the .xbe file but i dont have much info on this method. check out quall999's web site for info on this method. 4) Start RecordNow MAX and cancel the wizard that pops up when you first start. http://www.angelfire.com/alt/quall999/rnw-1.jpg 5) Click File > New > Data Disk from the top left hand menu bar. http://www.angelfire.com/alt/quall999/rnw-3.jpg 6) When the burn window opens, click Edit > Add Files and Folders, and go in to the temp folder you previously created, and select all the files (CTRL+A) and click add. http://www.angelfire.com/alt/quall999/rnw-4.jpg http://www.angelfire.com/alt/quall999/rnw-5.jpg 7) Enter the name of the game into the Volume label, and then click the record icon. http://www.angelfire.com/alt/quall999/rnw-6.jpg Sit back and watch some TV while your game is being recorded. you mind if I put this guide on my site? Of course you and rms2001 will be recognized as the authors of it, but i will have to clip the pictures to make em smaller to fit on my site.
|
by all means it's ok by me and i think i can speak for rms2001 by saying it will be ok by him to.
|
Nice Job DUDE and rms2001:D :D keep up the good work.
|
the credit for this one goes soley to rms2001 he did all the encoding etc.
just used a edited version of my guide. very nice job. |
very nice fellas
update thist first thread as the sticky and all the newbies would be good and havin less questions |
By all means go ahead and use it.
Make them smaller? They are under 200K for all of them. LOL you should have seen them before I made them smaller. Question: can you host these images? I have them hosted on my ISP’s webserver and I don’t know how much they will like images being posted in forums from their servers. Just wanta have a back up if they decide to take them down. |
i have already pm'd psx-paul to see if he will edit the sticky to include this new updated version.

And If you want, I can put them in my anglefire account. The only thing I use the account for is to host images, so I can post them in forums and stuff. |
Great if you can host those, this way my ISP wont have a cow when the seen how much bandwidth my website used. LOL
Just give dude the new URLs to the images so he can go back and edit the post. |
guys
i have edited the post, images now loading from quall999's angelfire acount. enjoy |
Thanks Quall.

Had some time, so I got more pictures so that the title made sense lol.
|
Hey nice job, better than the ones I did. I just have had no time to even think about doing them again. And now that I'm 3,000 miles away from home I really don't have the time. LOL This is the first time I've been able to get online for a week now. Got lots of things to catch up on.
Again nice job. :D :D   :D :D |
cool pics quall
nice job |
yah, and this time my account won't be shutdown because I lacked a homepage. Im still sry about that Rms, I had no idea they did that.
|
do u have to use RecordNow Max to copy the games, or will any dvd writing software do??
|
you can use most dvd burning burning software but you may have to configure it depending on the software. i know nero 5.5 had to be configured but i'm unsure as far as nero 6 goes ( havent tested it for xbox yet).
i prefere record now max because it can be used straite from the box no messing with settings etc. UPDATE. nero 6 is absolutley appauling for burning xbox games. stay well clear of this software for xbox games. |
i have updated the post to include some brief info on patching the .xbe files as all new games include the media check.
|
nero 6 is ok by me!
Hey Dude, dunno why you & a few others are so down on using Nero 6 as ive found its an excelent programme for burning xbox/ps2 games. I mite be a little bit of a newbie as ive only been doin dvd burns for a year or so but ive only ever struck probs with crappy media. I now only use ritek media & have had a 100% success rate other than recent games where ive had to update to craxtion over gdf image to create iso's. Dunno much about this Record Now software but i cant see any point in changing while its all working so well. Maybe its just that different hardware works better with certain software & in the end we all find what works best in our own machines.

hey if it works for you excellent. i have used nero since v 4 and do still use it however i and many others have found it rather lacking when burning xbox / ps2 games and dvd movies.
it's not very stable very prone to crashing etc and i personally have burned enough of the above in my time to know the success and failure rate's achived with nero. for xbox games i always stick with record nowmax 4.50 this had been around a long time and is a tried and trusted piece of software and much more user friendley than nero. for dvd movies i use alcohol 120 % as nero for me atleast pixilates the movie quite ofen where as alcohol never does this. also alcohol can cut through most data protection's unlike nero. the list of differences is endless and would take way to long for me to mention. i do still use nero for mp3 convertions ie mp3 to cd and basic cd copying but again it can't handle most data protections so for pc games etc i tend to use either alcohol 120 % or clone cd. every one has their own favorites and sadley nero is no longer one of mine. if it works for you like i said excellent but for the purposes i have listed above alot of people get problems with nero. any way that's my opinion. |
Its all good!
Cheers for the quick reply buddy! To be honest im not realy interested in movies or pc stuff as xbox & ps2 take up more than enuff rec time but its always good to know wat works best if i ever do. Down here at the bottom of the world its always good to know theres some good advice coming from seasoned pros like yourself & in the end a bit of debate helps us all.
|
hey no problem i'm happy to voice my opinion and share my experience. i started with the xbox on day 1 and lost a hell of alot of discs before i found a system that worked for me.
|
Do you guys have a link for the pics? All I can see is "Hosted by AngelFire" and no pics @ all.
|
they load fine for me so there is no problem with qualls angelfire account.
i have copied the images strait of the forum so if you still want them e-mail me. p.s if you don't get a reply from me tonight it's because i'm off to work shortley for a 18 hour shift. |
Ftp?
I have just bought a sony dvd-rw and am eager to learn how to back-up my games, I have learned a great deal with the hepl of this forum. I would like to if you know where I can get an FTP and which one to get? Thanks
 |
well, this thread has been around for a while, but I am going to unsticky it now. The title and the fact that the screenies can't be displayed kind of defeats the purpose. so uh, here we go.
