Flip Cover with Swap Disc
 

Does anyone know how well these work? If you just switch the cover how do you put in the disc?
Please give me feedback if anyone has tried these.

basically what it is, is there is a hole in the top of the ps2, so instead of using the Knife trick or the LH method, you just open up the lid and take out the disc.

its dumb though, because 100% of rips wont work, unless you apply no-mod patches, and there are even tons of CD games that wont work. its really only for newbs that will only play DVD-R.

a modchip is a MUCH better solution.

the swap disks also strugled with alot of newer titles that came out
i doubt this been sorted yet either :)

I am mainly looking to play DVD-R games. I already have a mod chip installed that will play everything else. I have removed my cover before and you still can get to the disc. Do you have to remove more screws once the lid is off.

u obviously haven't seen the lids themselves.

Seriously the best advice u will get is to get a messiah or a clone installed, dont stress about the current chip u have just save up and get it sorted properly.

If u play games as much as I do u will get very sick of the swaps very quickly

Full no swap chip installed is the same as like 2 1/2 retail games.

they are quite good and cheap

you have to remove your ps2 top (8 screws)
being careful not to tear the ribbon cable to the eject/reset
and remove your dvd drive top (4 screws)
fit the flip lid, it opens to allow you to put backups
directly onto the dvd player

boot up the games with swap magic 2 boot disks
1 to boot dvd-r
1 to boot cdr (TOC limit applies to dvd to cdr rips

EXCEPT for the problems that the swap magic discs will NOT BOOT all games.....

There have been numerous reports about the problems that the swap magic discs are having.......

My advice: Get a direct boot chip such as the Messiah 2 and by-pass all the other BS.......

What? More problems with Messiah 2. I think not. The only time when there are problems with the Messiah 2 is when an install goes bad.

And the cost??????? it may be cheaper to buy a no solder & swap magic disc but add on a flip lid case and it no longer is a realistic alternative!

I can't believe that anyone these days would consider any other mod than a no-swap mod.

The idea of modding is to get yr backups to run with the least amount of effort and Messiah does that.

No-solder mod is bad.

na sony fixes ur ps2 even if they was taken apart they did mine for free :) i bought off ebay broken. any how but if u have a mod chip in it better take it out before sending to them the way to get the void sticker off and it dose not say void is to heat the baby up with a hair dryer or what not and sticker comes off with out saying void :)

I do agree that the messiah and magic chips are the best way to go but calling a no solder crap really isnt fair. Its better than alot of modchips on the market today. If using a no solder use the GS2 or Ar2. I got a magic 2 and a no solder and i can load and play hitman2 and pro evo on both consoles, britany's dance beat doesnt interest me :) . At the time i got my first v5 console the no solder was the ONLY mod that would play dvd-r.Magic swap disc and a no solder mod = crap, (i do agree :))AR2 or GS2 and a no solder mod = a working solution that does allow the play of all cd and dvd direct backups without harming the console.HOWEVER :D , Once you add up what a no solder cost+ GS2 and a ogiginal hi toc dvd game you have paid almost enough to have purchased a messiah 2+ install

One other thing, I dont know of anyone who has got a messiah or messiah2 thats sorry they purchased it. All will tell you it was worth every penny myself included.

what is that Britney Dance party s*** lol who would want to copy a game like that sounds gay well i bought a no solder chip not got it yet but i would rather install it myself and play copys and payed 26$ for it then i would paying 40$ for messiah2 and paying 60$ to get install and haveing it sent off for a week and paying s/h to ship i dont mind the swap method :) did it all the time on my ps1

try doing dvd double swaps when ur pissed.

are dvd's that don't work. britneys dance beat was made a backup for my young cousin (who's 7). You tell her it's crap (poor you!)

Ea cdr games (not rips) won't work (try booting the original with swap magic 2...interesting?


at the end of the day you have 2 choices

buy no solder/swap magic 2 (or action replay2 if you don't have a ver7) and fanny around. No guarentee of dvd9 working or other games. homebrew software won't work and EA protected cdrs won't work whereas my messiah machine boots them perfect. Yeh maybe you can patch them but who wants to be messing around? plus the originals won't even boot using the swap magic 2.

Or

Buy a noswap mod, turn on and play.

here's my nice philosophy for today!

Having a nosolder/swap magic set up is like catching the bus. it'l still SOMETIMES get you there but it's damn slow and annoying.
whereas a no swap is like having you're own car :p
