Patching PS1 Games

I have tried to copy a PS1 came and it needs a patch. A .cue file has been copied onto my computer but I cannot then patch it to be able to burn it.

Can anyone help me on where I may be going wrong. I am using PPF. O-Matic3 for patching and CDRwin for copying the game.

using CDRWin, you should create *.cue and a *.bin files during the image creation process.

you need to patch the *.bin file using ppf-o-matic.

then use CDRWin to burn to CD-R (use *.cue file to load cuesheet)

follow this and this

Thanks for the advice. The problem I have is that the .Bin file isn't being created. The program produces an error before the .bin file is created.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Thanks

what game are you trying to backup?
what cd writer have you got?
you could try using CloneCD for 1:1 copies.

There are a number of games - I have checked a website to see whether the games are protected and they are not.

I will try and use CloneCD and see what happens. Is there directions to a tutorial for this program?

I have downloaded CloneCD and tried copying Chicken Run however it gets as far as 3% complete and comes up with an error that appears to self fix itself. I have copied the log below so you can see what happened. Can you help anymore? I have tried re-installing CDRWin as well and it still comes up with its error message and won't produce a .bin file.
Have you anymore thoughts? Other games I have been unsuccessful in copying are: Men In Black; Wipeout 2097; Skull Monkeys.

try these clonecd settings :

create a CD-Image using CloneCD with these settings:

Set Read Speed to 8x
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks
Select Abort On Read Error
UnSelect Fast Error Skip
UnSelect Don't report bad sectors
UnSelect Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner

To burn image to cd:

Set Write Speed 2x
Select RAW DAO
Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
Select Always close last Session

man those settings are pretty old compared to todays burners.. I burn at 40 x no problems.. everything boots just fine.. even have an old psx9001.. The biggest problem is you want it to not abort on read errors so DON'T CHECK Abort on read error.. Fast error skip sometimes works as well so you might check that if you can't get it to work without abort on read error.. Sounds mostly like the cd is scratched or something.. should burn just fine.. Always with ever psx game read subchannel audio and data.. if there is none.. it won't matter anyways.. good luck and hope you get it backed up :)

Dustpuppy 02-12-2002 01:02

Those settings are not old to us, who have burners up to say 24x. They will use z-clv (lite-on) and that messes psx copies up so they won't work. Some new burner may not use that method and they can probably burn very fast without any problems.

I have a Lite-On 24x and I can go as fast as 16x befor it messing up my copies. After that 20 and 24x it uses z-clv method (Diffrent burningspeeds).
I always use 8x when I burn because my burner can't burn any slower.

1) read w/ clone cd
2) get patch
3) patch .bin file
4)burn with CDRWIN
5) go play it

stupidass 12-12-2002 02:59

.....or read w. Clone cd , use ppfomatic AND change file ext. in ppf to "all files" and then patch and after....burn and play!(I use my plex 48x to read and burn ALWAYS at 4x and I use Tayio Yuden disc , do I have to say "No problem??")

:D :D

Patching PS1 Games

I have finally patched a game but others wouldn't work - the initial reading of the game doesn't work so I am going to assume the disc is scratched (although it plays OK????).

Anyway, Now that patching works has anyone got the secret to "backing-up" protected games?
