Cheap dvd-r media AUSTRALIA??
Hey all,
I have been using Laser Brand dvd-r media on my old V1 ps2 and everthing has been working fine. but when I try to bood the Laser dvd-r's in my V7 they wont boot. does anybody know any cheap places to get good quality Dvd-r media in australia? Verbatim, Apple, pioneer ect cheapest I have found is www.blankcd.com.au verbatim's at AUD$9.00 each and apple brand from apple resellers @ AUD$50.00 a 5 Pack but there has to be a cheaper place that does bulk??? Ron.... where do u get your media?? any other australian people out there??? Elkay |
very strange m8
if the v1 reads them i would of thought v7 should or maybe sony loaded v1 with a better laser |
yep doesn't make sense
hmmm |
i work at a retailer in oz and i pay staff price of $8 for Verbatim dvd-r. I've tracked down some other brand for $3 through a supplier. Not sure how good they'll be. I'll be buying some mainly for movies but i'll copy a ps2 game to try, and post the results.

that would be cool.
just to make matters more confusing I have sucessfully backed up dvd-movies to the Laser disks and they also work 100% on V1 & V7 but still no luck with ps2 on V7 |
www.rima.com
those princos are gettin cheaper and cheaper 63 bucks for 90 last i recall and it works great with my ps2 v7 |
hey elkayps2 i told u i'd give u my results
the brand is DigiMedia and the supplier is Capax. Cost for me ended up being $5, at the same time though the Verbatims dropped in price and i can buy them for $7 each. This DigiMedia brand is crap, utter garbage. Movies were corrupted regardless of burn speed (1x or 2x), same movie burnt onto Verbatim played flawlessly. Have done a PS2 game (Ninja Assault) but haven't really played it for long enough to notice anything incorrect with it. So after this i'm gonna keep spending the extra $2 and buy Verbatims all the time. |
hey dusted thanks for the info,
question how much can u get 10 packs of the verbatims for (retail)??? cheapest i can get em so far is $9 each from www.blankcd.com.au + shipping :( so 10 pack is a little over $100.00 elkay |
I've got one hell of a deal for you. buy.com sells a 10 pack of Verbatim dvd-r for $35.78 and shipping is free! Check it out here Not sure if they ship to Australia though. Definatly worth checking out.

very nice price
i checked on uk deliveries they post to uk and to australia but u must order $500 plus |
that DigiMedia brand is crap for PS2 games too. Ninja Assault doesn't boot, it just goes straight to the memory card manager. I'm sure it booted when i first did it though.
elkayps2 > we sell the Verbatims for $9.95 each. However when checking for a 10pack i came across a 5 pack of Imations for $29.95!!! I'll have to look into them. |
The price of DVD-R's here in Australia is absolutely disgusting. way too expensive.
I know Verbatims and Apple's are the ONLY two brands of DVD-R's to buy, but Verbatim needs to bring the price of them down to at least $5 a disk, at least..... Best place to get DVD-R's is from the UK, and it's handy having mates there who are honest and don't mind you going through them to get'em.... Until Australian prices come down, I'll be getting cheap, decent quality, DVD-R's through my UK mate. Cheers. |
All solved.. getting Ritek DVD-R @ $3.50 AUD per 5o spindle,
work 100% on games and movies. as good as Apple/Verbatim ect.. Elkay |
i'm an australian with a mac problem, having trouble backing up ps2 games with my mac, i use toast 5.2 and it doesn't work. I'll see if i can chase some prices up, i work in the wholesale computer industry

we've just got in a new type of digimedia dvd-r in stock. It's deffinately 2x speed and has a white printable surface. The good news is these don't corrupt the movie that i've burnt. haven't tried ps2 games yet. The best news is i'm paying $4 each for them and we're selling them for $5.95.
