Tutorial on Ripping Xenosaga Movie Files

Ok gang First of there will be a few files missing since i have to figure out how to locate them other then that this will show you how to get 108 movies from the game.

This is how i did it
Programs used
RecordNowMax
UltraIso
Rippss
Pssplex

Use the program from stomp called RecordNow Max install it and then run it close the first spash screen that comes up.

Pop in your XenoSaga disc i your dvd rom drive, and in the upper left side(in recordnow Max) right click the drive that is your dvd drive. Select the 3rd option Extract Tracks (ISO/WAV/MP3)

IN THE DISC SESSIONS AND TRACKS WINDOW, you will notice it reads all the layers and registers you XenoSaga at 8+ gigs
Below is a path box with ... click the ... to select the directory to save the iso to, This will take different times on different pc's only took me 8 minute to get the iso on my pc.

After this is done get the program called UltraIso. The demo of the program will work. When you get this program installed open it click on file then click open and direct it to your XenoSaga.Iso file once you load it your will see all the files including the hidden XenoSaga.21,22,23,24 files. If you just want to get the movies you only need to extract files XenoSaga.02,11,12,13,21,22,23,24
i havent found any movies in the .01 file but your welcome to help out. I have found that in all the forum they say there are no movies in the .02 file but i found out myself it contains 5 it has Shions erdizeiser attack, both MOMO Transformations,KosMos XBuster attack, Shions Kiss. These are short but still movie files

Ok now this is the part that will take some time in your this is so you can get all the movies i have, some of the movie start at the end of a file and begin in another example end of .11 begining of .12 so if you want to gett the full cut scence this is what you can do. You can joind 11,12,13,21,22,23,24 in one big file from dos command "copy /b xenosaga.11+xenosaga.12+xenosaga.13 XenoSaga.000" This will produce a large 4 or 3 gig file some pc may corrupt it for being so big.

xenosaga.21 is the begining of a movie file so then
you start the dos again with 21+22+23+24

Or you can do 2 files ata a time like 11,12 12,13 21,22 22,23 23,24 this is how i did it i found it much easier to run the rippss on

After you get a file coped together then its time to ripp the movies.
Get the program rippss from here
http://www.metagames-fr.com/fichier.php?id=7
~Credits~ MetaGames-fr.com
and place it in the same directory as the xenosaga files

I suggest placing everything in c:\xeno for eash dos access
in the dos menu type
Rippss Xenosaga.??? <----whatever you used for extension and hit enter it will ripp all the pss files from the file into the same directory as pss files.

Now if you have windows xp and your media player is atleast version 8 or above you can watch the pss files in your media player by clicking on it and telling it you want to open these files with windows media player. Although you won't get sound untill you use the pss plex program to de multiplex and combine the m2v file and the wav file using tmpeg or some other file combiner.

When you run rippss in dos let it complete before you start another file.

I hope this helps anyone Of course this is alot to read but maybe it will help, Like i said before you get the majority of the movies there are a few i don't have yet like the Beach scence and the part with Kos Mos floating in space, or Shion talking to KosMos in the esephilon i the begining , but the rest are there. If anyone can help with this it will be greatly appreciated. If you need help or have problems with this i will Help you can ask here or email me at be0wu1f@msn.com. Happy ripping

Im working on my tribute to Shion KosMos I may include MOMO i will release it soon for anyone that will be interested in it.

EDIT: This is no place for warez. I suggest you read the forum rules.

So I can use this to rip music as well? There's a beat in MDK2 and other games that I want to rip to use in something. Will it work for any file in ISO format.

Im assuming you have ripped stuff before, this was to get the movie files but if you want audio files you can get a program called hex workshop. you must make a iso image of your game you want to extract files from. Then open the file in hex workshop , selct edit tab and go to find. and place these values in there.

in hex format look for these headers

564147700000 <----this is the hex value start for a vag file witch is audio file

53534E4412000000 <-----This is header for the value for snd files.

hope this helps try these two see if you get them . of course there are other sound formats but these are the most common.

Ok in the lower box to the right of hex workshop will show you all the hits it had found, this information im giving can also be used to rip movies and other files.

So lets say the first number was
00F987
and the second was
00FA88

00F987 IS THE START OF A FILE
00FA88 IS THE START OF A NEW FILE
so you would save from 00F987 TO the second number to get 1 file then to get the next file you would go from second number to the third.

Ok now about extracting them click on the first numbers and hex workshop will place you exactly where it starts you right click hold and drag all the way down to the second numbers, you can hold shift and use page down to scroll faster, some files are huge and may take time. after you have the file you want selected and it will all be highlited in a darker color, click on file tab and select save selection as.. you can save it as what ever you want you may have to get a vag or snd player to hear or convert the vag or snd file over to something you can use on your pc..

Here is a list of other headers for other file types.

000001BA44000400 <-----Pss video files
5245534554000000 <-----Img Files
0A05010800000000 <-----Pcx picture files
FFD8FFE000104A46 <-----Jpg files.

As i said some larger files can take some time, in additon to holding the selct button down you can also drag the bar on the right down this covers a large reagion and may get you closer to getting the whole thing i shade. Play around with it im still figuring the program out myself.

I hope this helps.

If you have the Japanese version of Xenosaga, with this tool you can simply extract the movies from the disk.

(unfortunately the original site doesn't exist anymore)
