Has anyone backed up Aoe2 or any other safedisk games?
I am fairly new to the CD writer, but learn fast. However, I am not sure how to copy safedisk protected games to actually play the game from the CD. I have found out that you can't copy a CD to the hard drive, change the .exe file with unsafedisk software and burn it all to the CD. Please give me detailed instructions on how to go about making a copy, particularly Aoe2 for PC. I have tried to use Clone CD, CDRWIN, ETC. Nothing seems to work. My writer is an ACER 10x4x32 DAO.

If you have an approved CD writer you can burn copies of virtually any game on the market regardless of there protection using CloneCD. It is an awesome program but you need to have a cd recorder that is on there hardware list, if you are unsure if yours will work just check out there website at www.elaborate-bytes.com-----go to english---click on clonecd----click on requirements---click on hardware.. Good Luck, let me know if I can be of assitance. I have copied Diablo 2, Red Alert 2, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, WarCraft 2 and many many more using this program and an approved cd writer.

You CAN copy any safedisc protected game to your hard-drive, patch the .exe with unsafedisc and burn it back to a cd, but you have to use version 1.5.5 (or higher) and install the game. copy unsafedisc into the install folder and remove dxplayer.dll from thaat folder (DON'T DELETE IT, you'll still need it). run unsafedisc, than put dxplayer.dll back. click decrypt game and select the .icd file. you then get a file testme.exe which is the patched .exe. This works every time.
