Notebooks
Is a laptop with 1.6 ghz, 1gb ram, a 100gb hard drive and 256mb ram good enough for gaming?

No
At least 2.4ghz+ CPU 1GB Ram And a decent onboard GPU that can do pixel shading etc. |

It's mostly the inferior (integrated) video card that causes laptops to not meet the system requirements of many-many (modern) games.

(There's no need to open a new thread!)
The CPU seems to be a bit too slow for today's standards. Also, the "GO" in the video card's name is a bit suspicious - it may be the "el cheapo" version of a Geforce card and may not be compatible with modern games.

Laptop
So do you reckon it will be alright with the modern games for 5 years or so?
I am getting it from acer so the graphics card should be alright. Last edited by Toca 2; 28-11-2006 at 01:52. |

Now this is a gaming laptop that will last a LONNNGGGGG time before needing to be changed.
http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/fr5000.htm But at 1500GBP it is actually a very nice price, with laptops you get what you pay for. There is a Ferrari 1000 series at 1100GBP which is equally ok. Also if you know someone who owns a store he can get a 20% discount. |
