For all those like myself that can't download from Rapidshare, heres my conversion. This is my first conversion so please feel free to comment on my work or give any advice. Hopefully my first of many conversions in future.
I have tested this conversion and it is working 100%
Copy the contents of the DVD9 to a folder DISK1
Replace the Gears of War.msi in DISK1 with my edited msi http://www.mediafire.com/?fcnbsoy9ddl
Create a folder DISK2 on your HDD
Cut the following files into it from folder DISK1 into folder DISK2, keeping the folder structure intact:
program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\Maps
program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\NPC
program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\Sounds
Copy the Autorun.inf and autorun.exe into DISK2 and edit the autorun to appear as follows:
[autorun]
open=0
icon=autorun.exe
Name=GOW Disc 2
Burn Contents of Disk1 folder with label DISK1
Burn Contents of Disk1 folder with label DISK2
For Prepatch Rename the file startup.exe (located in program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries in the disk1 folder) to startup.exe.bak (for future update purposes) and copy the cracked startup.exe from gamecopyworld into that directory before burning
Install Sequence DISK1-DISK2-DISK1
INSTRUCTIONS TO EDIT THE MSI FILE YOURSELF
Open the Gears of War.msi with ORCA.
Scroll Down to MEDIA
Delete all rows
Right click in right hand panel, select add row.
DiskId = 1
LastSequence = 1399
DiskPrompt = Please Insert Disk 1
VolumeLabel = DISK1
Add 2nd row
DiskId = 2
LastSequence = 2162
DiskPrompt = Please Insert Disk 2
VolumeLabel = DISK2
Add 3rd row
DiskId = 3
LastSequence = 2310
DiskPrompt = Please Insert Disk 1
VolumeLabel = DISK1
Save the edited msi
EDITED MSI SHOULD LOOK AS FOLLOWS:

thx mondragon
i have a question, im not a power user so please bare with me.
i have followed the instuctions and have a problem, gears of war install stops on the file "C:\...\COG_City_Architecture\COG_City_Architecture .upk.comp"
then it asks for the second disk, but when inserted the the installer never uses the files on second disk and stops right there.
What am i doing wrong?
i dont have many blank dvds to use so i have made disk images and i am installing with those using Deamon tools
would this be the problem?
thx....

complete guide to convert orginal gears of war dvd9 to two dvd5 [for all language]
we need these tools:
orca
total commander
copy contents of orginal disk [dvd9] to temp folder [we name it "gow"]
create in gow\ folder , folder with name "disk2"
open "Gears of War.msi" in orca [right click on msi and "open with orca"]
we have two panels:
- left with "tables" list
- right with contents of every "tables"
go in left panel to table "File" and click on it
on right panel u see contents of that table
on the bottom u find clickable name [File Components etc]
http://images25.fotosik.pl/116/db97bf29c64e1e6fm.gif (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=db97bf29c64e1e6f)
click on "FileSize"
now u sort that tables for file size
next step is find that file:
"Cog_EastBarricades2.upk.comp"
clik in any place in contents of "File" table and from meny "Edit" choos "Find..."
paste that name of file [without "]
orca select that files what we want
next step is harder :)
u must from that file and files that bigger change "filesequence"
"filesequence" is last column in that table
i start from "2400" for file "Cog_EastBarricades2.upk.comp"
orginal
_AC01E3BD83754939821866142531EC0B _28D734433D15B02F17DD0A5B38F89065 COG_EA~2.COM|Cog_EastBarricades2.upk.comp 18771996 8192 1255

modified
and do that for all files below [ know its not easy ]
after u do that hard work:
remeber last number [for biggest file] - need that numeber for next easiest modyfying
go in left panel to "media" table
orginal
http://images25.fotosik.pl/116/e6514a9dac03648am.gif (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=e6514a9dac03648a)
1 2269 Please insert the next disk DISK1
2 2310 Please insert the next disk DISK1
click on first or second line and hit on keyboard ctrl+shift+c and next ctrl+shift+v [mean copy line and paste]
u get new line:
edit them [third line]
DiskID
3
LastSequence
[to number from last files what u edit from "file" table - the biggest file]
if u not remeber go to "file" table , click on column "filesequence" and scroll to down of the list and u know what is lastest number
DiskPromt
Please insert the next disk 2
VolumeLabel
DISK2
save msi but dont close
...........working on next step ...............
...........take me some time...................
now we use total commander [name it for now tc] to make disk2
run tc
in left panel go to folder gow\ and on right panegl go to gow\disk2
copy from left panel to right panel all files from main folder gow\
copy folders:
Windows\
support\
next step is moving [not copying] files from folder "program files\"
u need to copy all files from that folder to disk2 that "filesequence" from "File" table are bigger than 2400 including 2400
to know name of that file, go to orca click on file table, sort by filesequence and look into screen
http://images33.fotosik.pl/52/88880c46235d1144m.gif (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=88880c46235d1144)

ofcurse u have other filesequence numeber [that from orginal]
red thing in column "FileName" that u need to find and copy to disk2 usying tc
[remeber that i only show 3 files - u copy more or near 80 files [check point before]
back to tc
on left panel select [or go to] folder "program files\
hit F6 [or move on button on down bar]
u get that window:
http://images31.fotosik.pl/52/bce89f9c6755855fm.gif (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=bce89f9c6755855f)
u put in second empty place ["Only files of this type:"]
name of every files that need to be moved to disk2
i use for exampling
Ending.bik.comp
http://images34.fotosik.pl/52/ce72bd8e961951cdm.gif (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=ce72bd8e961951cd)
click ok
tc move that files with recursive subdirs to disk2 folder
u dont to care what folders/subfolders must create
tc do this job for u for free :)
and u need to do that things for all files with "filesequence" from "File" table are bigger than 2400 including
after u move all that files
in right panel in tc, select autorun.inf and click F4 [edit]
change to looks like that
[autorun]
icon=autorun.exe
Name=GOW Disc 2
that's all
now u must check to be sure if u not skip some files when moving
volumelabel for dvd1 use "disk1"
burn all files/folders in gow [b]except disk2 folder
volumelabel for dvd2 use "disk2"
burn contents of disk2
Well i used conversion in first post by DCORE and works 100% for me, looked into msi what was edited, file sequence for files starting 20mb was changed 2400, 2401... and so on except wargame-g4wlive.exe and ati drivers which are 20mb+ too were left unedited.
Mondragon posted manual steps for this kind of conversion, if it doesn't work then you have made mistakes somewhere
I don't know what with these posts about the problem with install directory, i can change it to install anywhere i want :/
After you pressed Install button in splash screen, when you're at screen with text "To continue, click install" press "More options" instead on the left bottom of this screen, change your installation directory

Well i've tried modgragon's boosted guide and works fine.
I made 2 isos and mounted with daemon.
Setup works smooth without any glits.
Thnx modragon.
PS The installation took alot less time because the files where already uncompressed. :p and with only one disk swap (from d1 to d2).
PS2 (not playstation 2 :) ) I made two more steps
1. by deleting the rows 2263 to 2287 exept 2267 and 2282 i.e. all the pdf and rtfs from mondragons .msi and all none english pdfs from program files\Microsoft games\Gears of war\ folder, minimizing more the space in disk1. :rolleyes:
2. I also edited the size of file 2310 (startup.exe) from 2002640 to 520192 because i replaced the exe in program files\Microsoft games\Gears of war\binaries folder of my disk1 with the fixed one (u know!!!) so the game is ready to play after installation (yes i kept a backup of the original in a back folder in my compilation for future patches) lol. :D
I know I'm late with this but just got round to looking at this and have managed to get the English game on 2 x DVD5 without much trouble!
Try this if other methods look too complicated, you need about 8Gb free space to copy the DVD.
Gears of War DVD9 to 2 x DVD5 [ENGLISH]
1. Make a TEMP folder (this can be called anything you like) then create a new folder inside it called DVD1, this is mandatory, do not name the new folder anything other than DVD1. Now copy the entire contents of the Gears of War DVD into the DVD1 folder.
2. Download this rar: http://www.turboupload.com/download/1htab35EaNVM/GoW2dvd5.rar
and extract it into the TEMP folder, you should be asked to overwrite 'Gears of War.msi' so click YES to the prompt, it will also copy a 'makedvd2.bat' file into the temp folder.
Note: The 'Gears of War.msi' has had the sequence numbers of the map files changed in the FILES TABLE from range 1400 - 2053, to range 2400 - 3053, the MAPS folder is now on DVD2. Then the MEDIA TABLE was edited so the last sequence of Disk1 is 2310 and last sequence of Disk2 is 3053 (I had to edit Disk2 into the second VolumeLabel column as it said Disk1). For cosmetic purposes I changed the DiskPrompt to say 'GoW Disk 1' and 'GoW Disk 2' so you will get the message 'Please insert the disk: GoW Disk 2' when prompted for the second disk!
3. As stated, in the TEMP folder is a file called 'makedvd2.bat', double click it to create a new DVD2 folder with all the files needed for the second DVD moved from the DVD1 folder. You should now have 2 folders called DVD1 (3.45Gb) and DVD2 (4Gb). Some files are repeated on DVD2 so it shouldn't ask for Disk1 now.
4. Now burn the contents of the DVD1 folder to a re-writable DVD with the label Disk1 then burn the contents of the DVD2 folder to a re-writable DVD with the label Disk2
Note: You DO NOT burn the folders themselves to the DVD, just the files inside and don't put a space between the numbers like Disk 1 as the install will fail!!
5. Test the install, it should ask for the second DVD and complete the install after waiting god knows how long for it to decompress the install files!!
6. If all OK then burn to 2 x DVD +R/-R.
Tested this method from scratch and works for me on the English DVD, does not ask to re-insert Disk1 after decompressing and finishing the installation, uninstall worked too.
There is plenty of space on each DVD to put Patch #2 and the crack if desired.
yony.z, sorry you're having problems I'll try to help!
To make the conversion manually I'll explain what you need to do:
1. Follow Step 1 and Step 2 of my instructions.
2. Manually create a DVD2 folder in the TEMP folder.
3. Copy the 'Support' folder from DVD1 into the DVD2 folder.
4. Copy autorun.exe, mgspidx.dll and pidgenx.dll from DVD1 into the DVD2 folder.
5. Create this path in the DVD2 folder: program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC
6. MOVE, not Copy, the MAPS folder from DVD1\program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC into DVD2\program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC
7. Copy the file DVD1\program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\English_Gears_Readme.rtf into DVD2\program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\
That's what the BAT file should do!! Now you should be able to make a working backup, but TEST on Re-Writable DVD's first!!
