I want to buy a DVD writer, I can get the same model as IDE or SATA.

Which is faster? The SATA? Or IDE?

I only have 4 SATA connectors, and I am already using 3.

If IDE is not much slower than SATA, then I think I would rather get the IDE.

Any suggestions?

Sata is quicker, not as quick as SCSI but quicker than IDE.

If you havent any other IDE drive in your PC it would be worth a try to buy a Sata drive, maybe you needn'd plug of your drive than to run sf games with d-tools or maybe even with RMPS-emu because really few people have sata drive so i think they havent fixed the driver yet.
