Extremely Huge Xecuter 2.6 Ce Problem

I'm modding a friends xbox, and he has a v1.6 and I installed the 2.6 ce chip

Now, I did this by wire mod, not pin head mod. The bottom of the motherboard, I have the LAN/HDD/d0 all connected, and I have the additional 4 wires attached as well.

And also, before I tell you what happend, when I plug in the xbox, while it's off, the chip lights up. I don't know why this does this

Anyway, I turn the xbox on, and it went to the Flash Bios screen. I shut it off, and checked to see if the xbox booted with the chip turned off, (even though the light was still on) The xbox worked and booted fine with the chip off. So, I turned the chip back on, and begun to flash the chip with 4981.67 bios. It said it succesfully flashed the chip and it powered off. Now the xbox does that 3 boot time thing?!?!? The xbox still works with the chip off. Please help, this is for a buddy of mine, and I'm all out of ideas? I thank you for your replies. And please don't tell me to do pin header install, cause I threw the pin header away, along with that tiny thin board with pre-soldered points for the bottom of the motherboard. please help!! :(

EDIT - I tried doing a hot swap. I tested the chip in my xbox and it works. I put the chip back into my friends xbox, and it does the three boot and blink red/green. I have no idea what's going on?

you have flashed the chip with an old bios not suitable for that version go change it! you will have to put the chip in another machine either 1 to 1.5

use the evox m2 or m8 i cant remeber there name it will be either one of them will be the bios you need. Make sure you know the difference between 1.6 or 1.6b caus theres a different bios otherwise your xbox will frag again.

If you put bios thats not correct for the 1.6 you may have already damaged it for good.

yes but if its buggered completely origonal games wont boot either.

The bioses compatible with the 1.6 xbox's have 1.6 somewhere in their names.
I know that there is an EvoX M8 bios that will work, can't remember the name though.
But there is absolutely something in the name that says 1.6 or so.

And I can't figure how flashing wrong BIOS to the modchip can ruin the xbox.

erm.. flashing wrong bios corrupts it or something :confused: but yeh if you do it will bugger it up.

well I can forget installing the chip now. Before I read all your replies, I was thinking maybe I installed it wrong, so I repeatdly installed/uninstalled the chip so much, that where you install the Yellow wire, the copper or whatever is there is complelely gone, top and bottom of the motherboard. So now I can't solder anything to that point, hence, the motherboard will not have this chip installed. If I just waited to find out this was a simple flash problem, I'd be set. I know how to hot swap, and I have the approriate flasher for my chip attached to my pc. Unless there's an alternate method to installing the Yellow wire, I'd be all set. So now, I have to give him back his unmodded xbox. This is my first FUABR xbox. A sad day in my modding. :( My entire weekend lost. But thank you for your replies on this matter. I'm sure this situation will happen to me again. I appreciate the help. And if there is by some extremely weird chance of an alternate position for the Yellow wire, hit me with it, it'd really make my day! Thanks guys!

And I am not aware of any alternate point to put the wire...
