Hello,

New to this so please forgive me if I am in the wrong group. I am looking for software which allows you to download the whole cd into the hdd which enables me to, for example, play a game without installing the cd. A lot of kids games are that way. I, however, use it for my work for service manuals.
Thanks for the help

Well you can use 'Alcohol 120%' to create an Image of the CD then 'Mount' that image into the 'Virtual Drive'. The Virtual Drive is created when you install Alcohol 120%. ;)

Mmmh, it seems he wants something so he doesn't need to INSTALL. This will not work for most games, as they have to collect infos and store them somewhere during installation. (Registry entries, ini files, etc.)

play a game without installing the cd
Ahh yes true! I thought he may have meant "without inserting the CD"? He did say he was new to this. ;)

Ok, here's the plan. Example: I install a kids game, I remove the cd. I try to play the game, the game says insert cd to play. What I want is to have a program that allows me to install all the contents of the "game cd" so I don't have to install the cd to play the game.
Is there such a program?

Ok, I see, one must be extremely accurate as far as explaining what the question is. I, however, went back and read the original question and again determined that it was well stated.
Perhaps when I get to know this forum better, I can be smartassed and grumpy as well, hee hee hee.

@Mondu5
When you learn to speak English properly come back and try to rephrase your questions!! In your first post you ask: play a game without installing the cd
In your second post you ask: What I want is to have a program that allows me to install all the contents of the "game cd" so I don't have to install the cd to play the game

The correct word you are looking for here is 'Insert'! As you cant install a game so you dont have to install to play!! Sorry but from where I come from (a proper English speaking country) that doesnt make sense!!

Your first post and your second post contradict each other! Your first post says you dont want to install then in the second post you say you want to install but then not have to install to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think before you type and you shall appear much wiser than you really are! ;)

Grumpy, and you are, I admit, I stand corrected. Thank you for that insertion of edification.

I would like to add in a note that most kid games have a "playgame.exe" or "rungame.exe" that plays the game directly from the cd. If you come across games like this, then essentially all you need to do this explore the cd and copy it's whole contents into an empty folder on your hard drive. That way all you would need to do is either run the "playgame.exe"/"rungame.exe" or install and play.

This only applies to older kid games released in the 90s, I'm not familiar with how the newer ones work.
