many years ago, when my dog was a pup, he liked to eat disks. THat is when I started making backups (dreamcast). Besides, i have an upgraded hdd, i no longer need to change disks. And, you can play homebrewn apps like xbox media center.
A dowside would be that you could get banned from xbl if you don't turn your chip off before playing online. You can;t use backups online. And also you void your xbox's warrenty if it isn't already up.

thanks alot guys, that helps, and yes, it includes the evo-x dashboard software, pre-installed.
I was just wondering though, i asked earlier too, what are the differences between backing up your games, then playing them on there, why not just save them to the HDD??? is it because of space or what???

space availability and cost is a reason why people use disks. Many people already have burners, so it is just cheaper.
Xbox Live detects HDD versions with your xbox. If you log online with the original xbox and then try to log online after you upgrade, you will most likely be banned. If you want to upgrade the HDD, you have to do it before you get xbox live. OTherwise you'd have to go through a bunch of crap that can be fustrating to do.

OK so i dont want LIVE really, not interested, haev no connecton down in my room anyways... so how is it cheaper to burn CDs rather than saving them to the XBOX, just the price of the HDD??? cuz im getting mine installed, with a modchip and all the software, its a 160gb HDD and its costing me just 75 buks, since i know the guy real well, so it is a good deal for me, since i dont have a DVD burner, only a CD-R... rite?

Burning to dvd's cost almost half as much if you already had a dvd-burner. But since you don't, then an HDD will be fine. And yes, 75 USD is a good deal.
Besides, with dvd's you can have an unlimited supply of disks. You can only fit so much on an hdd. about 60 games or so on a 160g hdd

the thing is that those 60 games are very small ones.. i dont know why, but they just are...

nah, 60 with standard game size. At least above 50. You can rip specific files that will never be touched, like demos, xbl content and languages...etc

meh, legal xbox backups. Who've ever heard......
just to answer the other question, xbox live is a fully pledged online service. Xlink and xbconnect just connect xbox's across the net with the system link feature (mimiks system link across the net).
