View Full Version : Spyware!!
After spending a few hours trying to get rid of a very vicious spyware attack (searchmiracle) and trying many different programs to get rid of it ie: Ad-aware SE 1.05, Spybot 1.2, SpySubtract, CWShredder and many others the only one which worked was 'Spyware Doctor'! You can download the Spyware Doctor trial version but to be able to rid your system of the spyware you need to register it! Which I must say was quite a risk I took in registering, as I wasnt even sure it would do it seeing as all the others didnt, but alas it did work! Brilliant little program I must say.
All I can say on the matter is the SP2 add blocker is not worth a pinch of S***!! I will be going back to using the old faithfull 'PopUpKiller'!
Just thought I would let you all know about it. ;)

I would seriously consider using a different ip address from your service provider and maybe get better firewall next time like zone labs' firewall. Zone Alarm is free and does a good job.. Just google it.
I believe I may have accidently allowed it to come thru! I put it down as one of those 'Brain Fade' moments. :D Anyway its gone now thanks to a recent ghost image I had taken, all there is left to do is repartition one of my drives to get my games partition then reinstall the latest games ive been playing then copy back over my game saves. Too easy. ;)

Probably Norton Ghost.
Tyler!
Yes i used Norton Ghost, its a top program. ;)
@Wordbringer
When you know your system is all ok, make a ghost image of it and store it on another harddrive or onto CD's or DVD's. Then when you come accross a problem you cannot fix then simply ghost back. Ghosting from another harddrive only takes between 5-10 minutes to restore. Its a lot faster than reformatting your system.

I don't know about Norton Ghost (I hate Norton products....), but I use Acronis True Image. It works like a charm.
It does the image of a clean installation (OS, Drivers, some progs) in ~5 mins. It needs the same time to restore the image. The last 2 days i used twice, cause I had some problems....It is just brilliant to have a working system within 5 minutes....
To your question: Programs that are installed are also saved to the image, of course.
Yes like Monty has already said, all the programs etc that were installed when you created the ghost image will be there again when you ghost back! But anything installed after you create the ghost image wont be there! ;)
