DVDRW Reading Problems

Well ive had this 4x Emprex(Generic) DVD-RW burner for about a year and i just recently tried backing up my PS2 games with programs and the dvd burner does not detect the ps2 games and says blank cd after a long time of trying to read it. It also wont read my Starsky And Hutch DVD. Anyone know how to fix this if i can?

Burners today are cheap. I would buy a new burner before i would spend money on new software.

Yeah i dont think it is the software because windows itself is detecting it like that and not just any of the programs i have. I even tried it with many different ones and the drive still detects the same. I need a new dvdrw drive but i also have to buy a graphics card and harddrive and christmas gifts at the time so its kind of hard.
