SmartXX or X.B.I.T? [Archive]

Hi guys, I hope you can help me here:
I have been involved in the PS2 scene for a while (I know), but I am seriously thinking about getting an XBoX too. So, what is the better modchip, the SmartXX or the X.B.I.T and why? Thanks a lot... LUFCfan :D

if u can solder decently well
then u shoud be fine for xbox.. get the x2 lite then if u wanna rely on that
if not then go for the xbit.. great non solder chip

Whats the difference between X2/X2 Lite/X.B.I.T?

What is wrong with the SmartXX? It looks to have a LOT of features (but then again, I'm new to XBOX)?

Hey lufc nothings really different. You can put just about any bios onto any chip. So theyll basically do the exact same thing as anything else.

Just make sure you buy a chip that can be reflashed (which I think they all are now). That way if an updated bios arrives you can reflash your chip with that.

Whats wrong with the Smart XX he asks? Ask your self, do you really need all that crap thats on it? I think not. The X2 is the "name brand" in modchip and has more or less set the standerd.

Its easy to install, simple features and no BS “OSes” to deal with. All people really need in a XBox modchip is an on / off switch. That’s why the cheap mods were so great. They were cheap, easy to built, easy to install, and simple.

The X2s are really the only way to go right now IMO. You have a 1mg flash rom, (Lite holds 2x 512k x1 1024k) on / off swich, BIOS protect switch and a switch to switch between the two banks. Dont need all that LCD hook up crap.

I completely agree. I will never own one of those pimped chips with non-needed features unless I got it for free.;). Seriously, and OS on a chi pis cool, but why would anyone need it?

i just say xbit due to the non solder capability
but yea id say x2 for thos who can solder
