xbox DVD player???

Hi all i'm new to xbox community and this forum. So here goes. I just wondering do i have to buy the DVD kit for xbox to watch DVD? Is there a method which i can activite it so i don't have to spend $55 cdn. I mean i can buy a DVD player for $55 why use my xbox right :) thanks in advance.

Well if you have a modchip installed in your xbox then you can run an app called: DVDX2. It allows you to play your dvd movies via your xbox without the need of a dongle.
