Okay, basically, I cannot back up my DC games with Tera Term Pro using the DC Coders Cable. Some reason I do ALL the settings correctly (according to the tutorial in this link: http://dc.only.auz.net/knowledge/kn...re_dc_cable.htm) and when it says PERSS RETURN AND YOU'LL GET A >>>> SIGN. I've tried it and it doesnt work; ALL my settings are correct.....however I heard you can ALSO connect VIA Hyper Terminal (instead of Tera Term Pro) I've search internet up and down for DAYS and haven't found ANYTHING. Anyone know anything about it? If so could I get a link or if you know of the problem I'm having now with Tera Term Pro, could you submitt some information. I'd be VERY greatful. But yeah the settings for Hyper Terminal would be great and a tutorial of how to use it to get the data would make me a VERY greatful person!

P.S. there are popups on that page! :P But the information is there and e.mail to contact the webmaster is no longer valid.

HyperTerminal is included with Windows 98 and 98SE..... it's not something you go download anywhere (I suppose you could, but who needs to?)....

No, I wasn't referring to where I can download hyperterminal (or even if I had it) just wondered the settings on it that it would have to be set to in order to read off the GD-ROM info with the coder's cable.....it was either that or someone tell me what I was doing wrong. When I first posted I included a link to the tutorial I followed and if it's wrong....or if there's something I need to change, please inform me.

Well, the URL with the guide won't open for me (no longer exists)... but just making sure, did you set TeraTerm to 57600 baud (not 115200)?

These are my settings:
TERMINAL:
Recieve:CR
Transmitt:CR+LF
Terminal ID: VT320 (also tried VT100)
Local echo, auto switch, term size, auto window resize are ALL unchecked

SERIAL PORT FOR BOTH IN DEVICE MANAGER AND TERA TERMINAL:

Port: COM1
Baude: 57600
data: 8 bit
parity:none
stop: 1 bit
flow clontrol: HARDWARE
Transmit/delay---->BOTH zero

With those settings, I boot up serial upload slave, wait for it to turn blue on the boarders, swap with the DC disc I wanna rip. Press enter in the box and > should appear for every time I hit enter and nothing happens when I do it.

Basically that's the situation, I've secured cables etc.

On Yahoo messenger I'm how_cold_can_you_go, if you'd be willing to coach me.

REALLY would appreciate ANY help.....Dreamcast needs another ripper, and I'm desperate for the knowledge! LOL

You're absolutely sure that the serial port on the PC that your cable is plugged into is indeed COM1, right? Not COM2 or anything like that?

Is it possible that the serial port is disabled in your BIOS? (Then again, if it were, Windows wouldn't see it...)

Are you making sure not to start TeraTerm until your Dreamcast is turned on? (Doesn't matter if you already booted the serial slave CD or not)

I don't know what else it can be. Checked my TeraTerm settings against yours, and they all match 100% - except I use VT102 as the terminal ID.

The ONLY logical explanation that's left after everything else is exhausted is that the cable is fu*ked up. I hope not...

Well, I changed what you had said to VT102, and booted up the dreamcast BEFORE tera term, and STILL nothing. Windows DOES show COM1 and I'm 100% sure that I am hooked up into COM1. There isn't ANY other reason why I can't be. But I am VERY sure I am. Thank you for your help!

Hope you can get that cable exchanged. Do let me know once you get a new one... I have to know whether you'll ever get lucky or not :D

maybe its either the version of the program that you upload to get it working that's not good, or maybe it's the serial loader disk, cuz i couldn't get the original one from marcus to work, but i got the newer one to work just fine

Yup, WILL do to let you know!!! Sickwilly, Tera Term is Tera Term. The program is meant to do one thing, and that's exchange information. OBVIOUSLY if it were the serial upload slave CD it wouldn't have worked or booted up the in first place.
