to tell if it's selfbooting select the image in alcohola nd it will tell you if it has more than 1 session. if it does then it will be selfbooting.
as for knowing if the game has a dummy file then you will probably have to extract the file contents and see what's there

thanks, i've checked with nero since i dun have alcohola. it tells there are two track which are 1mb(iso 9660 mode2/XA) and 318mb (CD-ROM Mode2/XA). does it mean that this is a self booting image? when i tried to open it by winiso, i have seen that ip.bin, 1st_read.bin and some "floders". i am quite new on dc image stuff, how can i tell if it has dummy file? btw, the image is .nrg

thanks again

if it has more than one track, then it is selfboot.

it looks like that image doesn't have a dummy being that the 2nd session is only 318mb. to tell if is has a dummy, open the image in isobuster or cdmage and look for a file that is huge in size. most dummies take on the filename,

000DUMMY.DAT
000A.DAT
DUMMY.BIN
0.0
0UDUMBASS.DAT (j/k) :)

they usually start with 0 (zero) because they need to be the first file burned alphabetically.

icic, thanks alot, in this case, it seems that mine doesn't have a dummy file, so what is the different between with/without dummy file?? is it better to have one?

thanks again

an image can hold multiple tracks and isn´t selfbooting .

(but i think 99% of cdi´s are sb)

if it contains a mode 1 data track before audio tracks
it is not selfbooting, so multiple tracks is not a 100%
identifier for selfbooting.

i say that one more, get daemon tools, mount your
images and use the burner software you want/own.

using cdrwin has a nice graphical view of tracks and
their modes.

green,green -> selfbooting (data/data)
yellow,red not selfbooting (bootdisk)
and so on.

and, using a dummy gives more loading speed.

thank you terminator. can i ask one more question? what standard (NTSC, PAL or pal 60) of the output signal from NTSC(PAL) DC when playing a sb/import PAL(NTSC) game? and how can i indentify which tvset can support pal 60??.

thanks again

yeah a image can hold multiple tracks and not be selfbooting but if it has more than 1 session then it is always selfbooting

with my over 10 years old tv its easy to determine
the frequency cause i have fullscreen with 50 hz
and small black borders on the top and the bottom
if its 60 hz .

pal 60 can be supplied by a pc-tv card,
like my NvidiaGeforce2. you have to configure the
driver for using pal 60.

but i think the dc doesn´t output pal60.

VGA with 60 Hz is possible.

By the way, you can ask thousands of questions,
but please make a new thread if you change the
topic so more people can benefit from it or give you
an answer.
