hi, ive got a v2 xbox with a cheapermod installed, recently i pressed the eject button and nothing happened so i pressed it again and it opened, i put a backup in and the game started but wen i went to load a saved game my xbox crashed? i reset it and this time nothing loaded i just got a black screen, i pressed eject a couple of times to get to the evo-x menu and then clicked on microsoft bashboard and my xbox froze again! i was getting the same prob every time and then i started to just get a black screen when i turn my xbox on/insert disk etc but after a few attempts i managed to get evo-x to load and had no crashes on that menu, i inserted the exox disk and tried reinstalling it (i had probs b4 with evox-when i went to load the microsoft dashboard, evo-x wld just reload everytime but it worked once i reinstalled it) but this time the installation froze so i restarted and tried to load the microsoft dashboard which worked this time but froze when i tried to load one of the 3 options i allso got this error message once when i tried to load microsoft dashboard:
Error Code 21
5-9 HDD error
10-12 DVD error
13 Dashboard couldnt b launched
14 generic dashboard specified error
16 dashboard files/settings incorrect
20 dashboard was launched but failed
21 generic, unspecified error
the main light was also flashing red
does ne1 have any ideas whats causing it and how to fix it?
thanx a lot

i found this at llamma's website
"21 - anywhere - This error says that the machine was booted to display a error, basically someone told the machine to reboot (or launch a xbe) with this flag, and the error code just means its been rebooted by the flag
In closing:
21 was the highest number I could find, I don't think any thing is past that. And for the unknown ones, I couldn't find any reference to them at all, I don't believe they are used. "
for an entire list
go here http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/explanation_of_error_codes.htm

my brother had that problem with his xbox and thats about all it did just the error 21 screen
the only way he got to fix it was by formatting the retail hdd and reinstalling evox and apps i think he used slayers to do it
hope this has helped aswell

And actually I think that UleashX has the ability to do this as well. Just gotta make it a boot disc. Unlike Slayers I it doesnt add all the other stuff like XBMP. I may consider using this to set up my next xbox's hdd.

you can save your games if you manage to link your xbox to pc use evox boot disc to get an ip address and an ftp program flashfxp is the best in my experience if you can do that your game saves are on the e: of the xbox
you choose an option to format retail hdd

Yeah just copy your C and E folders to your PC. And when your new hdd is installed, formatted, and complete just transfer the contents of each folder to the new folders in your new hdd.

First of all there is no Microsoft Dashboard on the evo-x cd.
Secondly you are in desperate need of reading the stickies on the top of these forums.

pop an evox cdrw/dvd into your xbox. One that you know will work. Use the newest evox. If you still get a boot error, then it isn't your HDD, since evox can load off a disk with an unformated blank hard-drive.
what bios are you using? You might want to reflash it. And did you put the cheapmod together yourself?

well, maybe it was flashed with some beta x2 bios (older version)...but that is a rare occurance. Maybe some tampered with the boot procedures.
