Hey I got an idea but not to sure how to go about it. All right, I want to stick an 80mm four LED case fan in my XBox. So just kinda looking around eBay for the biggest bang for my buck and ran across Thermaltake’s Smart II fan.
I run these fans on my PC case and one ontop of the CPU heatsink and they kick ass. I know some one here at X-S has put one of these fans in my XBox all ready. I really like this fan since it has a nice sensor on it witch can be hooked up in a way that it detects the CPUs heat and spins accordingly to cool it. Thus it will only make enough noise as it has to, to keep every thing cool and no be buzzing at 48 dBA all the time.
Any way… So than I got an idea. Why not to do the best of both worlds? Have the LED fan, but with the Thermaltake’s capabilitys. Just swap the LED’s fan motor with the Thermaltake’s motor and it will still be lit and have the heat sensor.
Okay so now that I got all that outa the way. How hard would it be to swap the motors? Seems like a simple idea but I’m kinda flying blind on how to go about it. I wouldn’t think there would be a problem with the motor fitting, since they are all more or less the same size.
Any advise or idea’s would be welcomed.
