View Full Version : Bios/Flash Help
According to the dealer I purchased my pre-modded Xbox from, it has a Chameleon chip and Xecuter2 Bios and he said the bios is flashable. Ok here's what comes up under Bios Checker.
Chip type: LPC based (SST49LF020)
512K Bioses
1. bios unknown (1165519480)
2. bios unknown (1165519480)
256K Bioses
1. bios unknown (213453721)
2. bios unknown (213453721)
3. bios unknown (213453721)
4. bios unknown (213453721)
My boot screen comes up with a blue Xbox log and it says Xecuter2 underneath. My questions are would the Chameleon come up in Bios Checker as SST49LF020? My second question is will I be able to flash it to 4979 or 4980 with Evox?
Any help appreciated.

i dunno about the bios checker one...
but yea u can update ur bios via evox..
its blue jsut cuz the person used xbtool and modified the bios they gave u
if u update it without modifying that bios.. itll come up as the standard greeen
AXMichigan, thanks for your reply. I flashed with 4981 and everything was cool. I do now have a green boot screen instead of blue but that's no prob.
I have all my games on the HD. My other question is before I flashed with 4981, if I was playing a game and wanted to quit, I would hit the eject button and it would reboot back to EVOX dash. Now, when I eject it just stays on the game and I have to power down. Is there something in EVOX ini that will change this?
BTW, I don't know what version my old bios was, it came up unknown in Bios Checker. I updated to Bios Checker 4.0b and 4981 does show up.
Any help on the eject issue appreciated.

Well, there used to be a "no eject fix" set of bios made along with the current, but that is non-existant anymore. Just switch disks and press "L+R+black+white" to reset the xbox.
Thanks QUALL, that does work. Funny thing, it only works with L+R+BACK+START. I changed the IGR settings in evox ini to L+R+BLACK+WHITE but it would still only work with BACK/START???
But...at least it gives me a working reset.

BACK/START works, it's easy so it's all good. I think I'll just leave it alone.
Thanks, Mike T
