Hi-
I have had sucess burning backups of my PS one games with my Nero 6.0. BUT when I try to burn a backup with a PS2 disk the drive that I'm using as my source starts to read the disk and then ejects it! Anyone have any ideas?
Also I just installed alcohol 120% and when I go to select a drive my 2 drives aren't available. There is just some F drive that doesn't exist on my system. I'm using windows 98SE, and I'm upgrading to xp soon. Please help. Oh, by the way, I'm a newbie. Thanks.

Usually read errors are associated with dirty or damaged originals. Wash the disc with warm soapy water and dry, if you still get a error try using a different original.
BTW nothing wrong with windows 98se.

One last thought, be sure you select the correct burning option when opening nero, dvd for dvd games, cd for cd games.

What is the difference between dvd games and cd games?

While the PS1 game comes in CD format, NEW PS2 games are now come in DVD format....

Try RecordNow.. many people say it the best back up program for ps2

ps. Anyone know anything about CloneDVD?

cloneDVD is meant for movies. RNM is pretty good.

Not all new ps2 games are dvd...(The majority of them are, but not all)

@spoonb4u

Easiest way to tell is to look on the disc itself...

On the disc it will say, Compact Disc or DVD-Rom.....

That may be why your drive is ejecting the disc....

Easy Cd Creator 6 has been mentioned as working good as well.
RecordNow Max seems to work for alot of members here and seems to be the most popular as well.

TylerDurden recommended to me once to use car polish on the original if there any lite scratches which works great. The scratches are sometimes mistaken for data and will cause a bad burn. Also make your laser is clean, as it will also cause problems.

Your media plays an important role as well. Traxdata Ritek Dvd-r media is also recommended. You can search the threads on these subjects and find all you need to know about backing up your originals.

I installed record now and I still have the same problem, the drive keeps spitting the disks out. The disks aren't scratched or they're not dirty. Also I read the stickie and followed the directions to save the backup game to my hard drive and then copy it to disk, first of all it states to click on build, there isn't any such button. Also it says to select a file to save the game to on the hard drive a .GI related ...WHAT IS THAT? Please help! I new to this and I really want to get the hang of this!! Thanks

In a nutshell all you do is choose build .gi and then burn it. Not too hard. Also make sure your burner is set to master.

Do I type build.gi into the area where I select the file?
Or do I place the file on my desktop or documents?

Also my Nero 6 states that it burns video cd's etc, so it does dvd. And how do I set my burner as my master? Thanks.

Dude, Nero 6 is software, its not the make and model of the burner. Also a VCD is not a DVD. I think you are trying to copy a dvd game with a cdr reader, burner.
Try this, click on the computers start menu, select settings, control panel, system, select device manager and click on cdrom. It will tell you what drives are installed on the computer. Post that info.

As Warlock and myself have already said, it sounds as if you are trying to backup a DVD game....

LOOK on the disc itself and tell us what it says... Compact Disc or DVD-ROM.......

The drive is: Atapi CD-RW 52x32x, the game back ups are dvd rom.
If this is a cd and not a dvd I have 2 questions:
1) Which kind(brand, make, model) of a dvd burner should I get.

2) If I get this DVD burner, can I still burn music cd's and back up PS 1 games with it also?
Thanks,
BK

How about the NEC 1300a +/-, it does it all and it can be found at a great price on pricewatch. I have burned over 100 dvds with mine and its on oem and it works great....check it out. Best software for game backups is RECORDNOW Max...this is the simpliest and quickest I have found to date...

Stick with Bighaps recommendation and you wont be disappointed. Pioneer is tops. Other dvd drives do work but many times they end up in a post here sooner or later. Bighaps only recommended the best and most sucessful. Plus it is compatible with most software to date. Happy Hollidays;)
