Hey guys. I have a NEC ND-1300A. I use RecordNow Max v.4.50
. I got the game unlimited saga and i wanted to make a backup of it. I went and bought 3 noname blank dvd-rs 4x, it said. I made the image by the book(sticky:D ). When i try to put the image in the blank dvd-r it gives me an error after 15 seconds. The important thing the error says is "sense:05 ASC:30 ASCQ:05"
, which in the program's help file and in the section error codes, that error means an unknown disk format!!!!!!!!!!!!Nevertheless, just before i make the recording, recordnow does see it as a blank dvd recordable (according to its legend, dark pink color) and sees that it has about 4,7 gigs free. Another crazy thing is that when i went to see if my dvd-r was at all written and thus unusable, i happily saw that it was still completely empty, however my nec drive recognised it as a blank cd-r!!!!with 648mgs of free space!!!!!!It saw that at the "my computer" . I loaded it into the cd-r drive and it can't read it so it is a dvd-r, i didn't make a mistake when buying it. But..........what the f*** is the matter here??????????????????????????????????????????

sorry, a small correction it doesn't say unknown format, it says incompatible. Specifically it says "Cannot write medium - incompatible format"

You generally get what you pay for when it comes to media. Stay away from cheap stuff like you bought.

that's the official response by stomp. Change brand name.......yeap, no more noname dvd-rs for me........The store in my place has 2 more brands, apart from noname. it has philips dvd+r and that's write DVD-r. Are they any good?

So, i went today, deposited 3 euros and bought a philips dvd+r 4x. It worked fine. I have yet to test the game written, I'll do it on saturday. What bothers me still though is that "my computer" still sees it as a blank cd......................

Thanks but i'll stick with max, i saw it's really good and heard tons of good opinions about it. I have win98 second edition. I can't put xp, not only i have to do a format first but i also have only 128 of ram so........

Okay but RecordNowDX is the same program as RecordNowMax. Just a newer version. Sonic bought the license from stomp so all u get is the same program with more support for dvd brands and writers.

Personally the failsafe way I use is Traxdata 4X dvd-r and RecordNow/RecordNowDX/RecordNowMax and never get coasters.

Regards an good luck
